waerth
I was just looking at the website of Albert Heyn, the largest (and one of the most expensive supermarket chains) in the Netherlands. Almost everything there was cheaper than in Thailand! for example: Fresh tropical fruit juice 30-35 bt for 1.5 liter ...... in Thailand 60-100 baht Lay's chips big bag 225 gr 50 bt ..... in Thailand 100 gr 30 baht Even all kinds of meat where the same price or only marginally more expensive than Thailand. Unbelievable ........
Pom Michael
How much was Phat Thai? Fruit juices (in boxes) are 60 - 70 baht for the one liters, so if really 30/35 baht for 1.5 liter then that is a good price. Move back to AMS? Flashermac
It is getting that way. Many things are the same, but some are going up steeply. Veggies in the local market are way up from a year ago. In the groceries you have to look for sales, 2 for 1 etc. And yet the baht is stronger than usual. WTF? Is this Thaksin's great plan to get the people begging him to come back?
buffalo_bill
Mr Waerth being a wealthy urban businessman thinks of course that Bangkok is the same as Thailand . I remember shopping food at the place where lovely Nok`s estate is , costs almost nothing . Though nobody there would buy chips in big or small bags or even fruit juice . acockasian
Thailand still represents an exceptional value for bars with nude dancers, blowjob bars and Mama noodles.
cavanami
Since the flood, I see prices up over 50%, IMO. My question...how do the average Thai people get by? All the local massage shops have raised their prices, gasoline price almost double from a few years (5 ~ 10) back, taxi prices are about the same, LPG/CNG up 50% in the last year! Flashermac
The flood drove up prices "temporarily". Most did not come down and instead have gone up.

khunsanuk
Hi, "in BKK hardly anybody makes less than 10000 now" I think you might be surprised about that. Would imagine there are still a LOT of people in BKK making less than that. Sanuk!
