A drag strip in Pathum Thani turned into a bloodbath early yesterday with seven people shot. Among the victims was Chatrawat Rattanawong, the 31-year-old son of a former deputy governor of the province.

Police received a report that a gunfight broke out at Bangkok Drag Avenue about 30 minutes past midnight.

"The place was hosting its seventh midnight speed party when the shooting happened," said Chatchai Phrakruthin, 26, one of the victims.

Chatchai said he was walking around the starting line on the track when he heard several gunshots and then felt a pain in his back.

Chatchai said some witnesses told him that a man known as Ken was the gunman.

Police have checked recordings from security cameras and are going after the attackers.

"It's about rivalry between two racing gangs," a police source said.

At least five firearms were used, he said. The two gangs have been at each other since they met at a competition in Chon Buri, he added.

Hi,

Yeah, heard that rumour as well. Never understood why the girlfriends would put up with that? If they guy loses, she's gonna get fucked by some guy, and if her boyfriend wins he fucks some other girl. Where is the benefit to the girl herself?

Sanuk!

From an evolutionary standpoint, it makes a lot of sense.

Raiding war parties who win, take the women for a good reason, some of them go with not too much protest...

And as an ancillary argument, at least 10% of women 'like a bit of stray'. This is based on anonymous studies into DNA taken from babies and parents at birth, where they discovered that 10% of children do not belong to the father. Several countries in the study, so it's quite wide spread. Ahem...

From the women's point of view, selecting a mate that's not from her gene pool confers a better immune system (hybrid vigour) on her progeny. They are more likely to survive and thereto better able to continue their mother's genes.
