waerth
As I predicted the Thais will ban airlines from countries that ban theirs ....... at least they warned S Korea they will do that if S Korea bans Thai airliners. It is just one sentence in this article but it is very important. http://bangkokpost.com/news/transport/518779/prajin-awaits-korea-next-move-on-bans
cavanami
Won't happen. There are international certifications for airlines and airports for their safety. Thailand bans Korean Airlines because of the Thai safety? That won't fly (pun intended)!

waerth
And here you have it. The Thais were actually planning on banning Korean airliners over this but realized that that would make matters worse http://bangkokpost.com/news/general/519899/dca-won-t-curb-flights-from-korea And Korea seems to have caved ...... might the Thai threats have worked? If so that is bad for air safety!

Coss
On a serious note, not that safety in the airline industry is not serious, but my usual posts are intended to amuse, this one is not: If the Thais are worried about air safety, and they should be, they would be better to be seen addressing the issues quickly and effectively. The usual response of defensive, face protecting, faffing around, with untruths and harebrained misinformation, is not effective and just engenders cynical disbelief in the rest of the world. Thailand has a well documented history of failure when it comes to transport safety, and buses and ferries seem to explode, sink, fall into ravines on a weekly if not daily basis, (today - One dead, one missing as ferry burns and sinks near Phuket), Trains seem to fall off the tracks with monotonous regularity, backpackers are poisoned, beaten, thrown off balconies, we all here, see this, all the time. The world's travelling public, has a basis for expecting Thai air travel to be safe, because they abide by the rules. Until they don't. If the Thais don't abide by the safety rules, there is not a fear, that Thai air travel will become dangerous, there is an expectation.
