The_Munchmaster
As I haven't been in LOS since early January 2015 and, because I tend to spend quite a lot of time on this soi, I was just wondering what's happening on Soi 22? Last time I was there both the restaurants on the ground floor of The Regency Park Hotel (Cheers and Som's) were closed. Has anything new opened up? Also the Citrus Hotel was still closed. Has it reopened? Has any construction work started on the old Washington Square site? Have any new bars opened?
radioman
I didn't really notice much change last week except the bit from the Holiday Inn down to where the old Denny's was has been levelled, er, I think, was late and in a taxi heading home. QPP is still in the process of becoming yet another Marriott There's still beer to be drunk and pussy to be played with, tits squeezed etc I guess
The_Munchmaster
QPP is still in the process of becoming yet another Marriott QPP! I assume you're referring to the Imperial Queens Park and not Queens Park Plaza?!
radioman
Hah yes, apologies. Was getting a little late. Would indeed be a sad day to lose yet another magical mystical walk through toilet
YimSiam
Indeed, selection at the QPP bars is abominable, but for god's sake, at least it's one last vestige of the old days, with convenient opening hours, relaxed atmosphere, and that sense of being literally in the gutter half the time. Long may the QPP bars remain open!
Nasiadai
Well, I think YimSiam is right. I was in some bars of QPP last February together with an American friend. My impression, my experiences: * the selection is abominable * QPP is only a shadow of the good old Washington Square. * many other bars are “normal†bars with 3 or 4 girls. Nothing special. * some bars are meeting points for local expats from the Anglo-American world Live from Düsseldorf Nasiadai alias Bakwahn Hamburg Bangkok Duesseldorf
buffalo_bill
Mr Munchmaster , searching for the headoffice of the Thai Asssociation of Culture and good Music I wrongly stumbled into a place called Honey Bee massage ; it is in a side alley and as such worth visiting Soi 22 . Yes, there are some pathetic ones, but there are some real gems, too. Here's the key: do not even think of showing up there before 11 pm. After that, and for some bars, continuing on until 7 am, the place is hopping, the bars are full, the girls are friendly (and in general, not too drink-pushy), and there's a great selection. In my opinion, over the past few years, the place has just gotten better and better. I think right now it's the real hidden gem among the BKK bar areas. Warning: the girls who work in the bars there--the ones worth taking home, anyway--fit a certain pattern. They tend to: -all live not too far down soi 22 -come to work late (10 pm, 11 pm is not uncommon) -drink a LOT (and for the most part, they can handle it) -not want to go and fuck until maybe 3 am, or later In other words, if you're a lightweight in the booze dept., or if you're an earlybird, QPP is probably not for you. buffalo_bill
Mr Vox , I do fully agree to your positive statement concerning aforementioned bar area . The sad truth is that I did never know about it til on my first visit ever to Soi 22 in may 2015 ; I have been very surprised about the size of this particular area and could not decide for any bar until I was politely invited into an establishment by 2 women who physically pushed me inside . I did not know what to do there so they asked me to join them playing snooker which unfortunately I have never done in my life before . The project has consequently soon been abandoned in favour of playing dart which is also an unknown area to me , although even when I only did just about hit the wall around the dart-thing the ladies confirmed that I showed enormous talent which I should try to develop further . We had a couple of drinks and they proposed to leave for the next short time hotel , the three of us Holy Lord. I refused and left . Summary : Soi 22 in general including QPP shows other than Nanplaza or Soi Cowboy an enjoyable mixture of boom-boom related enterprises and fairly upscale places . I did actually take dinner in a partially open-air place offering a very educated selection of wine and decent food . I would even say the majority of the customers were locals both Thai and falangs .
buffalo_bill
Gentlemen I just spit my coffee over the table when I found this lovely piece on the Honey Bee massage website : " Honey Bee massage is specialised in Traditional Massages in Bangkok " Anybody asking for a traditional massage at this place shall be thrown out through the door in no time .
