Steve
What is considered pedophilia has always been cultural. These men (and sometimes women) are attracted to various ages. But every culture has always had an age that is considered too young. Long before 1896. The ability or inability to have a child because she was too young has been used the most in various societies historically.
Steve
Anyway, Europe (as well as America and other regions) are going to be tested like they have never been with so many factors coming into play.
Coss
I reckon all religions should be criticised before thy can be taught to the young. And they should pay the same taxes as any other organisation, rugby club, dog and pony show... See how long their beliefs sustain them without state benefits... Where does one draw the line when it comes to "the rights of others to have their religious feelings protected ? Can no religions be criticised? Indonesia has a great law, often used, no "god" can be criticized, anything from Allah, Christ, Buddha, Krishna, whoever. It's a good rule i think. Banning religion until your 18wouldbe better, but this is good

Steve
There is a strong undercurent of nationalism throughout a number of European and eastern European nations. This is probably the biggest threat to the EU. The UK leaving is huge. Italy and Spain may demand so much economic help, it will further exasperate the union and it will weaken the EU. If the economic crash that is expected is worse than we think, all this and other factors mentioned prior will threaten the EU. But a death knell? I don't think so but the EU could be far more weakened in the not too distant future.
