16-Year-Old Luke Littler Loses to Luke Humphries at the World Darts Championship

t’s been a wild ride, to say the least, for Luke Littler, the 16-year-old darts wunderkind who exploded in popularity in recent weeks as he vaulted his way into the ranks of the world’s greatest players. After shattering records and defeating rivals twice his age to become the youngest competitor in the World Darts Championship finals, Littler ultimately lost to Luke Humphries (7-4) during Wednesday’s competition.

Over the past weeks, he has taken down even the most seasoned darts players—including former world champions. Littler will face world No. 1 Luke Humphries at Wednesday’s finals...

Whilst this story has been interesting, for the aspect of a 16 yr ld taking on the world's best, has anyone, like me, noticed that Luke has seemingly managed to fit 40 years of boozing and smoking and no exercise into his recent adolescent years?

He looks like a man more than three times his age, receding hairline, comb forward, but less wrinkly...

Since we all started talking about them

:)

Though

Darts is a sport, golf is a hobby

My definition of a sport is you need to sustain regularly a semi serious injury

I used to love watching as a kid the UK Championships

They seemed to take place in a pub somewhere with a pint of beer in one hand dart in the other,

Was good fun to watch,

Not a lot on tv 50+ years ago

Very talented girl

I noticed she can open those cheap beers!

This is a champion Thai Dart player obviously

I could never work out why people looked up as they popped balloons strung along the roof,

Where the fuck obviously is the dart going to fall?

Yeah they were my thoughts as well. Perhaps his family followed the Pacific Islands tradition where your DOB is registered at your Baptism.

My view, if it is something you can earn a living it's a sport. If it's something you participate in socially, it's a hobby.

So going by your view all olympians are just Hobbyists

No they're Olympians. And these days majority of them would be classified as professionals so definitely not Hobbyists. If the majority of their time is dedicated

to time and effort into their sport they would be considered professionals. Most if not all have endorsement deals and funding so it would be considered Sport as it provides a living.

Out of all the Olympic sports the only two that maintain an amateur standing is Wrestling and Boxing so in their case Hobby may be appropriate although in boxing amateur fighting can fight professionally but all prize money goes into a trust which they cannot access until they retire or turn professional.
