To prove the point look at the table now in USA Today

Some use a “point score,” 5 points for gold, 3points for silver and 1 point for bronze…so depending on the types of medals won, it might make a difference..? But, the spirit of the games is not supposed to be about who wins, but the spirit of competition… Imagine how many gold medals the USA would have if they let that transtesticle swimmer in…

No, only America uses that metric, every other nation in the world bases it on number of Gold, then Silver then Bronze.

its not just Fahrenheit and Pounds the US are out of step with the rest of the world about

IOC Medal Convention

I have no argument with how the score is kept. I am nearly saying *some* people, have different ways of keeping score…in short what suits them… American sports writers are not known for their brains…As I said, “scoring” the Olympics to declare a winner is supposedly against the nature of the games…

You 'mericans have nothing on us Kiwis, if a Kiwi looks like they'll get a bronze medal, the local media will go berserk for 4 days, with blanket coverage of not just the competitor and the event, but the mother, the mother's mother and any relatives dog , cat or budgie...

Regardless of whether or not the medal was won.

re the Trans debate:

" the internet transvestigators have honed in on  two boxers who — again — are not trans. "

"The true story is, of course, much more complex than can be explained clearly in a handful of rage tweets. Both Khelif and Lin were born as women. They have always identified as women. And for years they competed in women’s boxing, including at multiple world championships and the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Olympics. Both have posted numerous losses to cis women in their careers. "
