Anyone remember an American bar owner (his bar was on Soi 3 near where Nana House is now”

Called himself “Rolliefiners” on the old Bangkok nightlife Yahoo groups.

Probably around 600 pounds with shaggy dark hair.

not looking to BF him or anything, just remembered recently his bar was the first i ever visited in Thailand

Chang Noi, a blast from the past, if I remember rightly he used to bust outside Times Square opposite Sukhumvit 17, I still don’t know how he got away with that, well evidently he didn’t

Lee Shamrock, the Irish muso who played ar the Dubliner, Molly Malones, anywhere that would have him is still going strong plays at Scruffy Murphys and The Olde English.

Bust or Busk?

Didn't Lee Shamrock also play Hanrahans?

Yes, Chang Noi often played outside the Times Sq. Building, there was some sort of “established” beer garden there as I recall. He also used to play at one of the pool bars (New Wave maybe?) on Soi 7  I remember “Big Randy” being mistaken for him a time of 2…

Which bar? That description fits a guy I knew who used to own a bar in Clinton Plaza… Kind of an interesting story about that guy… not sure I should/can tell it here…

How to make OH and others feel old.

The heyday of Clinton Plaza was well over  20 years ago

I remember my first trip in 1986 like it was yesterday..!!   I remember “Buck Skinner Joe’s” the beer garden next to Soi Cowboy and the one behind it off Soi 23 car park where the old/original Lolita’s was…no sky train, some bars didn’t have bar fines and the ones that did were reasonable… all the old expats telling me “…you should have been here 20 years ago before the place got ruined… ah so many memories…
