Coss
More reasons that the Catholic church is a: 1. sham. 2. haven for dodgy folk dressed up as saintly representatives of the sky fairy chief. ~ Pope Francis took the unusual decision Wednesday to expel 10 people – a bishop, priests and laypeople – from a troubled Catholic movement in Peru after a Vatican investigation uncovered “sadistic” abuses of power, authority and spirituality. The move against the leadership of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae, or Sodalitium of Christian Life, followed Francis’ decision last month to expel the group’s founder, Luis Figari, after he was found to have sodomized his recruits... https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/25/americas/pope-expels-bishop-peru-sadistic-abuse-intl-latam/index.html ~ One can't help but think that Mr Jorge Mario Bergoglio, stage name "The Pope", is furiously trying to get good P.R. on this, as he struggles with: A/. hushing things up not working any more. B/. declining interest in praying to sky fairy chief and leaving money behind every Sunday. ~ Disclaimer: I was at the local Lao temple this last Sunday, as MLG likes to go there to wear symbols of Hi-So status, like gold and Gucci, dressed up as the worship of Monks representing Buddha. The only difference I can see is the colour of the grifting saintly reps' clothes, Orange for Buddhists, White/red for Catholics. large farting noise

Old Hippie
When I saw “Flogging a dead horse, and or sodomizing the followers?” I first thought it was a trip report from Bust, but as I read on, I saw it was not. The Catholic Church here and I suspect damned near everywhere else is a haven for homos and abuse of children/women. Here in the USA, they, like ALL “legitimate churches” don’t pay taxes. No wonder that can afford to pay out all those settlements. I for one think the US government should be taxing these people same as any other business. We should also be investigating these clowns and punish those guilty of their crimes.

Coss
More Popery: Pope Francis has pledged to root out the “scourge” of clerical sexual abuse after Belgium’s prime minster urged him in unusually frank terms to take concrete action... and: In his remarks, Francis compared the church’s abuse crisis to the biblical story of King Herod’s order that all male children aged two and older be executed. “This is the shame, the shame that we must all take in hand today and ask for forgiveness and solve the problem, the shame of abuse, of child abuse,” the pope said. “We think of the time of the ‘Holy Innocents’ and say ‘what a tragedy. What did King Herod do?’ But today, in the Church itself there is this crime.”... https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/27/europe/pope-francis-belgium-abuse-intl/index.html _____ Coss comment: All because a bloke long ago figured out that he could co-opt some beliefs that bunch of lesser grifters had promulgated and successfully found a religion, that's lasted quite a while. A bloke that may have looked like this.

Coss
Well yes, at first, but then the boy had to find a reason for why he was so f'n wonderful in his father's eyes, whilst he world was ignoring him, so grifting was his path.
