Great idea. But I think you would have to narrow it down a bit. Some of us have huge libraries of photos we have taken and could enter many shots. Have like "landscape" one week, "temple" the next week, "people" the next etc.

My idea would be to create some fixed sections not complementary to the forum but with the same intention like:

trip reports

rural life

city life

landscape

architecture

people

flora and fauna

events (like Songkhran, Loy Kratong, Xmas in Bkk :), temple fests)

artworks

e.g.

Additional to this there could be a monthly contest under a given topic like Stickman suggests (and a addional rating stystem, see below)

Because photography spreads in so many areas the sections can only give a hint. Often photographs would fit in different sections at the same time, but I think the person who posts the images will know where they will fit best.

I would suggest to allow more than one image per user. Some people might concentrate on single images while others prefer a reportage style and take more images to tell a visual story.

Depending how many photographs are posted it might be necessary to set a maximum of photographs per user, for example per 1 , 6 or 12 months (I would suggest to wait a while, maybe it is not necessary).

Another way to control the server space could be a rating system (like 1-5 stars). The best rated images could stay longer on the server while the low/not rated images will be deleted after a certain time. Anyway the rating system could be a good way to select the picture of the month/year which KS could show on the Nanaplaza homepage.

PS: I miss the reindeer graemlin, how about a buffalo graemlin, is there a designer on the board who could create one?? ::

First of all, let me say I think it's a great idea.

What about setting this one up as a kind of photo forum? Every member of the NP Board could get some space alotted to him if he wishes and upload his pictures in his own gallery.

Every picture should be allocated to a certain predefined category (like people, city scapes, landscapes, etc.), so people could browse pictures per user or per category.

Because of the upload possibility, maybe the picture site should be moderated too.

Although most of my pictures suck :o I wouldn't mind sharing a couple decent ones as well ::

Cheers,

KS,

if you need some help to take care of the hopefully soon to be set up photo section I would like to offer my help. I am not a Thailand specialist - if this is a requirement you might ask more experienced board members, but working daily with photography I think I have a good eye for this kind of material.

cheers

I'm sure some the regulars, who really know what they're doing with computers, would be glad to develop this logistally.

Also, there could be a panel, or even a rotating sysytem allowing for the periodic replacing of panel 'judges' from a list of interested participants,' say three or four interested members. Seeking to maximixe the interaction between the NPF and participating members would improve the overall popularity of the photo contest concept, and, hopefully, lead to success of this venture. What should the next step(s) be ?
