  5. Army in Thailand announces imposition of martial law amid political crisis "to keep law and order" More to follow. http://www.bbc.com/n...d-asia-27480845 The army has also granted itself wide-ranging powers to enforce its decision. The military said it had taken the action to preserve peace and order. The move comes after a long-running political crisis, and escalating tensions between the government and the opposition. Earlier this month a court ordered Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and several cabinet ministers to step down.
  6. Worst kept secret in Football LVG appointed as next Manchester United Manager on a 3 year contract toady, Giggs has retired from professional football and will be LVG's assistant Ggigs career, 23 years a first team player, 963 appearances, 168 goals, 13 Premier Leagues, 4 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 9 Community Shields, 2 EUFA Champions Leagues, 1 EUFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Club.
  7. First off, Congratulations to Arsene for equalling the monumental achievements of Harry Redknapp and Alex McLeish in winning one domestic cup in 10 years. To achieve this against all odds, and against the mighty Hull is some feat! This of course, banishes eternally the argument that he can't win against big teams and the 6-3, 6-0 and 5-1 defeats are forgotten! I have a quote for you all: "There are two trophies. One is the league and the other is the Champions League. When you go to sign players they do not ask "how did you perform in the FA Cup?" Who said this? Arsene Wenger did! Then there's the assertion that winning the FA Cup will attract top signings. (Yet , I thought the 4th place trophy was supposed to attract the best?). When will Xavi be having his medical at Wigan then? They won it last year didn't they? A club with a wage bill over £150mil a year, a manager that's earned over £60mil in wages these last 9 years and the most expensive ticket prices in Europe...and the FA Cup is being celebrated like it was the World Cup itself! Look well done for winning it. This in the grand panorama though, changes nothing at all. Wenger isn't good enough, and all he's managed to do is finally match Wigan 'a achievements (Wigan beat a serious team in the final too). So with all due respect: if a FA Cup win is the elixir, does this mean you accept that Portsmouth and Wigan had been more successful teams than Arsenal until Saturday?
  8. Huumlaar, Not sure when it actually started, I do remember a few teething problems in the early days a couple of years ago when people could not get back into the country. Mrs Kong has been travelling back to forth to Vietnam with me for the for the past six months or so and it has always been part of the verification process. She renewed her passport in Feb 2013 and was issued a biometric one then when Eye Scan and Fingerprints were part of the application process. Here is a bit of info from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/1415/21478-Electronic-Passport.html
  9. Funny that you should say that, Thai immigration both on Exit and Re-entry for a Thai National has been using Biometrics for a couple of years now, Eye Scan (not sure if Iris or Retinal) and fingerprints for self Identification at the terminal to really speed up the process, I was surprised myself this morning when I got through in less than 5 minutes.
  10. Is that room temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, with or without Aircon.
  11. An amazing fact since Arsenal beat United in the 2005 FA Cup Final United have since won 5 Premier League Titles 1 Champions League 1 World Club Championship 3 League Cups 4 Community Shields

  13. huumlaar, do you have to post home videos?
  14. How could he have a Non-Imm O? If single, no family in Thailand and over 50 years of age the Visa is a Non-Imm O-A (Retirement Visa) not a Non-Imm O (Family Support) For many years Police Clearance and medical report have been Required for a Non-Imm O-A Visa but not for a Non-Imm O, maybe you are confusing both. Here is some reading for you before you start mouthing off and talking shit http://www.thaiembas...a-o-a-long-stay I thought I have been rather polite. P.S. I am from the UK
  15. Crazyman I have no doubt about Magnetic Induction for low level Power Devices. Less than 0.1 watt I am trying to bring 4,800 MW online in Vietnam, trust me wireless won't work. I Blacked out Qatar in 2001, yes a whole country to it's knees, I had to run fast I escaped by the skin of my teeth, now the Commies let me play with their network puts the shit up me.

    Annual Check Up

I have read some crap in my life but nothing as stupid as this. I find Thai Consultants amongst the best in the world, mine is proud to tell me I find nothing wrong with you Blood test results come back A1, Paranoid, maybe, but I would rather know that there is nothing wrong with me than to find out too late, I am high risk of cancer so chose to check up.
  17. Missy, You are confused, if he is your Boyfriend how could he apply for a Non-Imm O unless he has Thai kids from his previous ex, he ain't your spouse. Or maybe he is an old fart, over 50 and can get a Non-Imm OA Retirement Visa, a Non-Imm O A is different than a Non-Imm O like twice as much funds required in the bank for 90 days before application for extension to stay, us outsiders don't get a visa just 12 months permission of extension to stay. I have been dealing with Thai Immigration on and off for 23 years now, I think I know how it works. Thank you for admitting your naivety it goes a long way to explain your ignorance.
  18. A friend of mine has bent his Sony Viao running WN8 because he has hit it so much out of frustration, I have a copy of WN7 Ultimate and office 2013 to load onto his machine before he breaks it, people joke about throwing laptops out of the window, trust me I have witnessed him hurling it through the window. WN8 Sucks big time
  19. I think they were looking for the Blue Diamond
  20. Thai's have had fingerprints taken for over 3 years now as my wife will confirm, what is the issue? Fark I have had DNA records taken in Middle East before now
  21. Missy there is no such thing as an O Visa in the UK, maybe you mean the equivalent of a Thai Non-Imm O. Police clearance papers are required by most countries, I was issued mine in Bangkok for Vietnam as for medicals every country needs a health check for work permit, obviously you have not travelled much or are very naive. KS, Was Pakistan a nation when your grandparents were born?
  22. Frash, Free Trade already exists it kicked in January 2014 freedom to travel between ASEAN nations is December 2015. As I have mentioned previously the western English Teacher in Thailand will be a thing of the past, Pinoy 's speak decent English come cheaper and won't need a work permit, the Tie stall at Pratanum will go out of business.
  23. No way it could work on a Domestic level, I happen to know a little bit about Power Generation and Distribution Vietnam National Grid is my baby, they must be desperate to allow me in charge of the main utility. As RM correctly stated for low wattage devices such as a mobi or an MP3 player it will work, but I doubt it would even power my TV let alone my Aircon. 1200MW @220KV from my latest coal burner I will stick with copper wires
  24. Rob, I hear what you are saying but come Jan 2015 Malays and Singaporeans will be off the list come ASEAN open borders, same as a Thai can visit any other ASEAN Nation unrestricted. For Non-Imm O based on "Family Support" one already needs to prove 400,000 THB in the bank for 90 days previous for Non-Imm O Retirement 800,000 THB how can a married guy spend only half of a single man? My Question is why would a person need to be in Thailand on Back to Back stamps? One either works here, has family here or is retired otherwise deemed as an undesirable, Visa runners give honest farangs a bad name. You may think that I am an arrogant prick, so what I have been called worse, just my 2 cents worth. Chonburi Immigration used to raid our office at least 2 times per year, BANG camera in face where is your work permit, the company I worked for used to hold WP in office safe, Oh mr Mekong one moment please and WP produced, smiles and hand shakes and a mai pen rai later life went on.
