  1. Flash My Point completely schools will prefer to hire Pionys (who are quite fluent in English) for 66% of Salary and not the problems of securing Visa's and WP's for them. When ASEAN opens up Jan 1 2015 it will have major repercussions all over SE Asia, even here in VN they are gearing up for it http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Thai-language-fever-stirs-in-Vietnam-30228789.html Thailand needs to wake up, Vietnam has overtaken TH in Rice Export market and are now planning on taking over the job market. PTT and QPI (Qatar Petroleum International) are investing US$33 Billion into an Oil Refinery down in Long Som, close to Vung Tao about 30 Minutes from HCMC. Now when Thailand's Flagship Oil & Gas Company decides to make investments in other ASEAN nations rather than the home market it should be a wake up call to the nation. As a footnote, PTT and QPI have headhunted me, I have worked for both companies in the past, 2 years Detailed Engineering In TH followed by at least 2 years in Long Som on site, I do have Vietnamese TRC (Temporary Residence Card) and Thai Work Permit, not many Western engineers have both
  2. Visa and WP is only an issue for next 9 months, come 2015 and open borders for ASEAN of which PI is a member Visa's and Work Permits will not be required. I can see many "Western" Teachers being replaced by Pinoy's post 2015
  3. It is $228 for a British one, but everyone knows a British Passport is more valuable than an American one.
  4. Reports in VN say wreckage found 120 miles offshore of Ca Mau province in South China Sea.
  5. Standard Chartered overseas accounts are charged for local ATM services, I have SC account in Singapore and do an online transfer to my SC Thai account for free withdrawals in TH. In VN they charge 66,600 VND approx 100 THB per withdrawal, does not sound a lot but maximum withdrawal is only 3,000,000 VND is less than 5,000 THB so it soon adds up.
  6. That is Morse Code not Braille
  7. Console yourself Munchie, your next game is at home against a team of mid-table strugglers.
  8. No Loch Ness Monster sightings for first time since 1925 For the first time in almost 90 years no "confirmed sightings" have been made of the Loch Ness Monster, a veteran Nessie spotter has said. Gary Campbell, who keeps a register of sightings, said no-one had come forward in 18 months to say they had seen the monster. Bookmaker William Hill also said the three entries to its annual Nessie spotting contest could be explained. They were images of a wave, a duck and a picture not even taken on Loch Ness. Mr Campbell said it was the first time since 1925 that there had been no confirmed reports of the monster. He said: "It's very upsetting news and we don't know where she's gone. "The number of sightings has been reducing since the turn of the century but this is the first time in almost 90 years that Nessie wasn't seen at all." 'Time out' Mr Campbell, a chartered accountant based in Inverness, has been logging Nessie sightings for 17 years after seeing something in the loch himself. As Nessie's registrar of sightings, he has put together a list of sightings going back 1,500 years. Irish missionary St Columba is said to have encountered a beast in the River Ness in 565AD. Mr Campbell said: "So far 1,036 reported sightings have been recorded and there were some in 2012. "I'm convinced that Nessie has just taken some time out and will be back with a vengeance this year." Last year, Loch Ness Monster was placed ahead of the Himalaya's Yeti in a list of "top 18 mysteries" for travellers to solve in 2014. Wanderlust Magazine put Nessie at number three and the Yeti at 12. Easter Island's carved monoliths, the moai, were in first place followed by Mongolia's Gobi rock art. Also listed are the Pyramids of Giza, the USA's Marfa ghost lights, Angkor Wat in Cambodia and finding Australia's Tasmanian tiger. http://www.bbc.co.uk...slands-26081992
  9. And the owner is also a BM, who happened to have a successful bar on Soi Cowboy a few years ago.
  10. W The pacifier song, little JJ 13 month old, Finnish Father Indonesian Mother, living in Vietnam, no wonder why his head is screwed up. Whenever he gets into a strop I play "Fox" and he changes from an angry little child into a cute kid. For some reason outside my comprehension he has adopted me as a surrogate uncle, well I did teach him how give a Hi 5 and how to use a bottle opener to give his dad a beer, his mother hates me haha, she does not know the tricks I will teach him when he gets older, ain't seen nothing yet.

  14. i concur with StoneSoup After more than 10 years here, well more like 20 plus in my case, one does tend to get jaded and gravitate away from the nightlife. I could post about good restaurants my wife and I went to, or I could post about life in Vietnam but it it would bore people shitless, we grow up and we move on, I did the bars back in the mid 90's but now it is nearly 20 years on, my kids have gone from shit happy crappy fill the nappy (diapers to my American friends) into young Adults with their own lives and careers, still bank at the Bank of Daddy haha. The majority of core BM's are similar to myself, we live in Thailand and have life away from the nightlife scene, if you want to understand life in Thailand read my http://t2.thai360.com/index.php?/topic/56015-let-battle-commence/page__hl__%2Bbattle+%2Bcommence thread, Cheers Kong
  15. A bit rich coming from a City fan! Maybe a little high but it is a gamble, £40 Million invested now recoup the £60 Million plus from next years champions league if united finish fourth or higher (fark I sounding like an Arsenal fan) to be honest I would be happy with fourth this season, plus I play darts on a Thursday night. It is the type of signing that may attract other players, looks like Rooney is going to sign a new contract and Edinson Cavani is unhappy at PSG, Dream on. Of topic, I always was of the opinion that Thailand showed the most Football on TV and I was wrong, Vietnam shows even more, EPL, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch games all live, luv it.
  16. Juan Mata from Chelsea to United, I will believe it when I see it but this is the type of signing United need
  17. Sir Chrisopher Chataway. The man who set the pace for Roger Bannister to break the 4 Minute mile.
