However, I believe that have fallen in line with the increased barfines (600B). BTW, some bars actually raised the barfine prices Loy Krathong and Halloween nights. The greedy bastards. Also, I think they have similar pricing for the drinks. You are right Khon Ken - I did mess up by forgetting Carnival is Crown Group, however, I honestly did not know Hollywood Rock was. I think your analogy of McD's fits with many of the big bars, Peter, but not the small places like DC-10, Erotica, Secrets, Temptations, etc. Also, I find larger bars like Playskool, the Rainbow Bars, Silver Dragon, Mandarin, and Bottoms Up OK. Again, I said it before, I think NEP is really after the tourist trade now rather than the expats and regular visitors. I think that group has pretty much adjourned to SC. I know of two gogo bars closed in NEP - Titty Twister and Hard Rock. Any others? Do you really want to know the story why they are closed or is your question rhetorical? I think the real point is why doesn't someone re-open these bars? Personally, I think the old Hard Rock location is the worst in NEP. Now, here's a question for you? Why do they have THREE katoey bars in NEP? For me, AW is still the only reason to go there. SC and PP are better alternatives because they have by far a wider diversity and the main reason is, they have something like a heart. >>I won't disagree with your last statement, but I also had a great time as noted Saturday night in the bars mentioned. Thanks to Peter1964 for the thread list......... Having seen the list now I'm happy that none of them are bars that I normally visit, so even if I was planning anything I don't have to now!!!! Quite honestly I don't frequent the bars that much any more. Much prefer to be with my GF or SC when she's working!!!!! Sarasin Great to see you back posting again. Hope your life is improving now! Posted November 11, 2003 Report Share Posted November 11, 2003 FYI: Playskool = same owner as Suzy Wong & Sheba in Cowboy; (interesting note: principle from Crown Group is a silent partner in Sheba). Mandarin, Silver Dragon = same owner as Shark in Cowboy. I still prefer the SC bars by these owners. Not because of prices (well, a bit), but because of the attitude of the girls. Please read the Break-In thread in General Discussion. I am starting to consolidate all my crap now to put into storage. I would leave Thailand and return in the Spring for work. Too many problems to sort out here, so I will likely take a break. Hopefully, I would feel a little better and be able to find a good, secure apartment to move into. I don't know why more prople haven't mentioned the Bottoms Up/Pretty Lady bar. Its one of the few gogo's that is all topless (and sometimes more) with a good selection of girls. Beer is only Bt100 (the cheepest in the plaza?), bar fines Bt500, the male service staff are very efficient, music is great (if you like rock) and you can sit outside if you want to chat to a girl.
