Guest lazyphil Posted October 23, 2004 Report Share Posted October 23, 2004 Isn`t this the cool thing about taking a tg out of LOS?...I hear, keep them in LOS to flower, blossom etc etc, but taking them out they transend all this uptight protocols of los and can expand their horizons somewhat....I`m talking all classes btw. There are exceptions, wife hasn't worked in a bar, (but likes going to them now!) and is very close to the top software people here in Bangkok. In fact they at one dinner while I was working promoted her to the VIP table so she wouldnt be sitting with strangers. Very funny! But dam good people, not enough of them! My teenage years was spent on the fringes of gangs which were internationally connected. That ain't no BFD. The parralel is perfect though for farangs in Thailand. I was an anomaly in their society. Able to "run" in it, but not fully one of them because they had no control over me (thus had no support). While I was associated with two gangs, I was never a member. Very much like a farang in Thailand. Not constricted by the system because they are outside of it, but yet with no support structure of a family. So GET A GRIP. As for my analogy about Black men, it's a perfectly LOGICAL parallel. You sight a few violent cases to prove your point. How many times a day do interactions occur? How many times do they actually escalate into violence? Same thing about Black men. It's perfectly logical. If it "pisses" you off then you have to ask yourself why. From there, how does fly get to the point where he's stating this should be "teaching" us a lesson and that we should totally stay away from socializing unless you have a "real thai family". I know many companies here trot me out to meetings, not because anyone will give a flying fuck what I say, but because it makes them look good to have a farang advising them, which they then ignore! That's just ABSURD doom and gloom.<<< you are just so full off it, unbelievable. who said anything about "socialising" in general? what i have said: don't play around in a social setting you have nothing to do in, where you don't belong to. this is not the west, this is thailand. and this country is full of farang who think just because things look so modern compared to most other asian countries, because people are friendly and polite and give you a smile, and because it is very easy to meet the upper echelons of society during parties etc, that those poeple are easy to be "friends" with as well. who believes that lives in denial, and is in for some nice surprises. so keep sprouting your opinions, but i guess you know about the correlation between people's opinions and their arseholes...
