Must admit I find it bloody stupid to have a Miss Thailand (or any country for that matter) who cannot speak the local language. I'd say a Miss should at least have the country's nationality and be able to speak the language and know its customs. How else could she represent the country? Sanuk! I seem to recall some pageant on Thai TV during one of my stays where one of the finalists for Miss Universe/World Thailand had a Thai mother and a farang father. Wasn't too long ago. (I think she was from California.) Her interview was conducted with an interpreter and the Thai audience seemed to really like her. An aside, Thailand seems to embrace Tiger Woods; why not this chick? But of more interest, could open the doors to really screw up the Miss Jumbo Queen?
