UEFA Champions League

CT posted this just after the game. SO that would have been 4/5 am, so I think maybe Ct had a few drinks and maybe a little drunk.

My apologies! Totally true, I was 29 hours on my feet, Frankfurt - BKK BKK - Chiang Mai to discover huge fall back with my bar inventory then Cian Mai to BKK, BKK - Pattaya 3 hours stuck in traffic, arriving in rainy Pattaya, no time for a nap and drinking too much without eating, betting 450 Euro on ManU

Yeah I was out of line!

Still there was no effort of ManU but Milans Players deserved to go through, the management and the dark bosses surrounding this team do not!

with 80 minutes remaining MU knew they had to score twice and i would have preferred them to go to full out attack regardless of what might have happened at the other end.

This is no explanation/apology I let count. Not for ManU, especially not for ManU. They once played a final, totally sucked 2 half times, been lucky with a couple of post hits and bar hits and turned the game around within 86 seconds! Since this game everybody should know that the game is over when the referee blows the whistle!

They should have risked everything, either they play 2:2 or loose 5:0! I blame them for not trying!

i don't like comparisions between Players and think the Kaka and Ronaldo question is unfair.

both play for different teams with a different playing style and no-one can say that Ronaldo would be a success at Milan or Kaka would be a success at MU.

Spot on

Excuse me for saying this, I haven't seen the game, I was on the plane. Just the idea of 2 english teams in a penalty shoot out is funny.

What's even funnier is that 3 of the penalty-takers in the shootout were Dutch (the only nationality worse than the English at penalty shootouts)! The 2 Liverpool Dutch - Kuyt and Zenden - scored while Chelsea's Robben missed (beauty - the cheat missed! :D )

Also quite funny is that Liverpool keep winning shootouts yet have no good regular penalty takers. Gerrard, Alonso, Crouch - all miss quite a lot. (Before that, Baros and Michael Owen used to take turns missing. :) )

Robbie Fowler's our only decent penalty-taker and was brought on in the last two minutes just to take one. It would have been such a good story for his penalty to have sent Liverpool through but, for that reason, I feared he'd miss.

Chelsea also brought on a specialist, Geremi, in the last few minutes but he missed!

That should be done more often, I think. Matthew Le Tissier (1 miss in 49) should still be kept on the England bench, just in case of shootouts. It'd be great to see him coming on, old and fat, just to take a kick. :)

Reina's saved 5 out of 7 penalties in the shootouts he's faced with Liverpool.

i was glad to see Ferguson was more gracious in defeat then Mourinho.

he recognised that his Team was beaten by a better Team.

and unlike Mourinho he has respect for his opposing Manager and was quick to heap praise on Ancolotti.

i don't mind being beaten by a better Team and i think Fergie also has the same feeling.

and the MU Fans have the added bonus of watching the more exciting Team in the Compie.

a total of 36 Goals scored in the their games.

23 for and 13 against.

the other semi-finalists are still some way behind.

Chelsea 17 scored 9 against.

Liverpool 18 scored 7 against

Milan 18 scored 10 against

unless Liverpool or Milan score a hatful MU will be the top scorers in the compie.

and not forgetting being the top scorers in the PL......... :yay:

Yeah, I'm sure you'll be dancing about that for years. Because, as we all know, there is a prestigious 'top scorers' competition remembered fondly by all fans for years and years... :smirk:

ManU fans still deluding themselves. :doah: ( :D )

I said at the time, who cares about a one-off 7-1 win against a mid-level team who, once they knew they'd gone out, could hardly care less. You should have saved your energy.

And you can hardly even score away (especially when it matters), let alone win away.

While Liverpool were winning away 3-0 at PSV (and saving their energy once they knew they were through instead of going for useless extra 'look at me' plaudits) and 2-1 against the holders, Barcelona, in the Nou Camp (where your boys have got thrashed), look at your dismal results away over the past few seasons.

Fergie - 1 final in 21 seasons? 1 semi-final win in how many attempts? 5? 6? You need a new manager who can work it out as well as a decent central midfielder with bite (Carrick ain't it).

We've got a surplus of those but we lack wingers. Tell you what, we'll swap Sissoko for Ronaldo if you chuck in £5m as well. :D
