Bangkoktraveler
Cavanami, have you read the disclosures from the airlines of what items they cover? Or should I say what few things are covered? One thing to have things stolen but it is another item when they steal the items right out of the suitcase. By the way, it is illegal to put alarms on suticases or to take any preventive action against the thieves. Yes, thieves. Federal hoods.

MooNoi
Is the USA is the ONLY country where people seem to have hassle or what??? Australia is a lot stricter since 9/11 happened. And it's not only the immigration and customs guys who want to grill you... we've got the quarantine officers as well checking for food, wood products etc. Big fines for bringing food or wood in and not declaring it. Everything has to be x-rayed coming into Australia after you collect luggage - checked luggage, hand-luggage, duty-free, the works. The lines can be fucking horrendous. MooNoi
Australian Quarantine Part of this brochure says: # all potted/bare rooted plants, cuttings, roots, bulbs, corms, stems and other viable plant material # banana products including food (fresh and dried) and souvenirs made with banana plant material # souvenirs made with or filled with straw, including Thai cushions # wooden articles and carvings including painted or lacquered items # items that include bark # artefacts, handicrafts and souvenirs made from plant material # mats, bags and other items made from plant material, palm fronds or leaves # straw products and packaging* # bamboo, cane or rattan basket ware and furnishings # potpourri* and coconut shells # Christmas decorations, wreaths and ornaments # dried flowers and arrangements So if you have a wooden leg I would assume that because it would be classified as a wooden article, you would have to declare it as wood, wouldn't you? I would!

Bangkoktraveler
I have had hazzle free trips but most of them deal with some form of hazzle and generally something is pifered or stolen. Before 9/11/01, never, ever, had one problem.
