drogon
Greetings all. I would like some info (recent) about expats packages. As salary negotiation is always difficult I am trying to gather as much info as possible about salaries and packages offered to expats. (IT business, GM or operations manager level) thanks for any hints/tips

samak
there are as much different expat packages as are companies that employ expats under expat packages. typical includes housing (either full or allowance) car with driver maid, nanny, gardener, poolboy school fees for kids one or more paid homeleaves per year for whole family plus compassionate leaves some reasonable solutions regarding pension, social security and health insurance for whole family (under the aspect that you do not loose benefits you would get in your homecountry) relocations costs and allowance for both ways ev. furniture storage fee if you do not move all your stuff yearly health check up social club memebership fees fees for visa, work permit etc. compensation for income tax difference (if tax is higher than in your homecountry) compensation for higher cost of living (index) if higher than your homecountry (probably difficult to get for cheap thailand!) what you see less and less is the so called hardship allowance, with the exception of countries in Africa or North Korea etc.
PP
According to that calculator I should get Baht 2 million a year maximum. WAY OUT for an expat package, probably right for a Thai.
PP
Figure it as what you would get paid in your home country plus living allowances and airfares, possibly schooling, and tax and Social Security paid by the company.

It is *only* salary, not the whole package. Works for me, right salary neighborhood at B296k/mo... Cheers, SD
