Sounds like you'd fit in a treat as thats one of their favourite little ploys. Someone does something nasty/wrong that the majority of participants enjoy responsibly so their answer is to ban it. Fuck the freedoms of the civilised majority. Just make excuses for people who can't behave themselves, all fits in with their control freak mentality anyway. I also think you would find your suggesstion unpopular amongst the majority of cabin crew and they love to ply the punters with a couple of drinks and get them to sleep just after the meal on a long flight so they don't get too many ringing the call bell and interrupting their chit chat in the wee hours?! It costs a hell of a lot more to run air con in a smoking plane, then it does on a non smoking plane. On a smoking plane, the air has to be cleaned and filtered before it is circulated again. A non smoking plane just throws around the same air without the need for expensive filtering. It was actualy more healthy to sit on a smoking plane. At least new fresh air was pumped in cycle. Now, its the same air that everyone breathes. hence the reason so many of us suffer mild colds and sore throats, post flight. Should I take your shovel away from you now? When you are in too deep stop digging! So on a 12 hour flight they just recurculate the same air do they, the O2 content diminishes and the Carbon Dioxide levels increase no wonder we have nausea, headaches, and mucosal irritation its the Oxygen starvtion we suffer. They seem intent on wanting to control, oversee or/and interfere with as many aspects of its citizens lives as possible. In my book I'm in favour of as few laws as possible. A government should in return for our taxes; defend the country and its borders, provide a decent level of infrastucture and basic services, maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of its citizens. And other than that keep its big nose out of its peoples business! It should treat its adult citizens as adults and expect them to behave like it and those that don't should be prepared to be responsible for their actions? Just MHO of course! sayjann Posted January 16, 2008 Report Share Posted January 16, 2008 i have one life and will enjoy it by doing things i like. i will smoke,drink,have sex,eat shite food. anyone who refrains from all of the above must have such a boring exsistence. i'm more likely to die driving to work tonight than dying from a smoking/drink related condition. i might choke on shite food and die and dying while having sex would be the ideal way to go..... I haven't seen the stats in years, but the air on a B757 is completely changed every 3 minutes or something like that. There is an Oxygen generator that suppliments the levels needed to maintain life. The air comes in from the outside(at that altitude there is little oxygen) is cooled or warmed as needed, blown through a series of filters and then has oxygen added to it, and it delivered to the cabin. One of the main reasons for the smoking ban is/was the research showed most passengers did not like the smell, and the fear of a lite cigarette causing an accident should the oxygen masks suddenly be needed, so basically safety and comfort. I recently walked through a casino for maybe 10 minutes, got back to my hotel, and smelled like cigarettes. Simie You sound like a classic libertarian, simie. :thumbup: I would consider this government to be 'leftie'. Gordon Brown is of the typical leftie tax and spend, interfering mindset.
