..
Anyone know the procedure for replacing a lost Thai driver's license? I do not know the license number...is it linked to my passport number? I know that's on there, but have no idea if it is linked (that would make too much sense, right?). Regards, SD
WorldFun
I would imagine preparing *some cash*, your passport & WP & a smile in person at the 'office' should be able to reciprocate the unfortunate situation;) Good luck!!
limbo
First report it lost or stolen by the police, get some form stating this fact and than go to the good old driver license office for a new one. Lost my bike license but can't be too bothered to get it replaced. This is the advise I got.
Faustian
Just tell them you are really rich SD and not an english teacher. Let them know they are conversing with the elite, not some lo-so scumbag. That'll do it. Bring along WL to confirm how superior you are, he's good at that. CTO
No longer need to do the police report, I went through this a few months back (December) Licences now on line, you go out to the licence site near JJ Market. 2nd floor I think, Have your ID, fill out a form. Then, instead of joining the Thai queue (over 2 1/2 hour wait the day we went,) you join the FARANG queue! They have one booth only for you! Sit down, get photographed (Note it's a single licence, no stuck on photo anymore) Pay a few hundred baht within 3 minutes your new licence complete with Hologram will arrive. Note NO REPORTING TO POLICE (I was surprised)
Adams167
Could you give more information as to the exact location of this Office? I have the same problem! Many thanks. Paul
..
Land Transport Ministry, pretty much due east from Chatuchak Market. The market is that grey J-shaped thing on the map. Cheers, SD
samak
for a thai driver license you need to have what? work permit? non immigrant visa? so probably for replacement as well, i guess!?
..
Non-imm visa. Work permit not required (so the retirees are OK to get one). I'm sure I'll need all the usual stuff, so to save time I will get the address verification and the doctors report before I go. Of course, as Murphy's law goes, since I will bring all that I will not need it. Cheers, SD
Mekong
Murphy's Law dictates that the document required is the only one you dont have with you.
