Dumsoda
Hence, why bother asking someone who clearly doesn't know wine, and makes a snap judgment based on the few crap brands he can afford? OH, with respect....CF is a Buyer for a UK Coy, I believe... To quote from one of his posts.... p.s I am not a wine snob, just a beer & wine buyer. Having said that, maybe you're right....one only has to look in the Liquor outlets (be they Supermarket Chains or others....and see what they actually range...) Buying and range selection (world wide) are basically Co-op (Income generating) driven: Listing fees Trading Terms - rebates, allowances etc. Promotional Funding are the main areas that determine what products end up on shelf at retail level Hence the biggest sellers are almost 100% from the big Companies ...Are they good wines??....I'd say (mostly) VERY average!! ...Do they sell??....shit YES....bucket loads Just another excercise in mass marketing..... There are excellent wines that never make it main stream.....and as an aside it is these wines that are probably more profitable for the producer than the offerings at Tesco, Asda, Safeway, WalMart or where ever Just my Cheers DS
