Iraqis, Afghans and Pakistanis will be marking this anniversary as they have done on each of the previous anniversaries: By getting shot, kidnapped, tortured and blown to pieces by US troops still bent on revenge and still carrying out their civilizing mission, as willed by God (the Christian one, not Allah).

 

I have offered my opinion that humans, like Osama and W Bush, who believe they have been chosen to know the will of God, are the same, delusional and destructive.

 

I disagree with the part of your post that says, "US troops still bent on revenge". The US troops typically come from economic disadvantaged situations and are just doing what they are ordered to do. Recently, McCain made a big deal about the number of troops who had re-enlisted and he attributed this to their devotion to "the cause". This is pure bullshit. They are given large bonuses (cash $) to re-enlist. For most of them, this represents their only opportunity to buy an home or get an education.

 

If the US offered these troops the same cash bonus to return to the US and get and education or open a small business... they would be gone in a heartbeat.

 

The only ones that I know of that seem to have a desire to kill people are religious nuts like Osama and W Bush.

No Sympathy from me, what goes around comes around. For years many Americans sponsered terrorism in Norhern Ireland via NORAID and there were far more casualties in the troubles than there were 9/11.

I think they are still around, in Boston as well, and a few other places. The big difference is, they aren't as overt and brazen as they once were.

Actually, in the history of the "Troubles" roughly the same number of people died as on 9/11. Around 3,000.

 

In reality, if you occupy a country and put in place an apartheid state, a "Protestant Parliament for a Protestant People", where a "Croppy" can't vote or find a house (which are all taken up by single Protestants), or even a job, you can expect people to take up arms.

 

I wish more people would.
