Guest lazyphil Posted March 27, 2009 Report Share Posted March 27, 2009 essex contray to popular myth is a very pretty and gentile county with some gorgeous places like thaxted, saffron waldon, finchingfield-i do some cycle circuits around the countryside and there are some very nice out of the way cottages i'd give my right arm to live in......southend and romford are a contrast to these places i grant you that. john peel is reported to have said he would do a 90 mile detour from his home in suffolk to avoid essex on route to work in london!
