Thai360 book store

Hi,

Kamui has made some great recommendations on how to improve the use of the Amazon store we have on the site (the STORE menu entry).

His recommendation was that we add targeted shops as sub-forums, and have only a select number of recommended books (or DVDs) in them.

These stores have been suggested so far, but I am open to other suggestions:

- Nightlife, with all these books on Thai P4P scene (fiction and nonfiction)

- Travel books LOS (Travel/hotel sections)

- Travel books SE-Asia and fictions (SE-Asia P4P section)

- Art/Culture Books LOS/SE-Asia (Culture Section)

- Books on the Vietnam war (Culture Section)

- Books on economy, history, society of LOS in the general section

- Thai movie DVD section in the culture section.

Now, here is where you guys come in. I have no clue on which books to add, so I would appreciate if you could recommend books you enjoyed (obviously relevant books only :) ). Either in this thread or by PT.

Sanuk!

Great books - I am onto number 3 thanks to someone here :)

General/ Travelsection. One of my favorite travel books:

A Fortune-Teller Told Me: Earthbound Travels in the Far East (Paperback),

by Tiziano Terzani

Fiction:

Bangkok 8: A Novel by John Burdett, and the other John Burdett BKK detective stories.

Bangkok 8 was so far the best detective story I read taking place in LOS

Travel:

Lonely Planet Thailand

Lonely Planet Japan (the BEST travel guide on Japan)

Lonely Plante Kambodia

Culture (SE Asia)

- Art & Architecture of Cambodia

by Helen Ibbitson Jessup.

(Great introduction in Khmer art, many sculptures can be seen in the National Museum in PP. A must read for anyone who wants to learn about the basics of Khmer art.)

- Ancient Angkor (Paperback)

by Claude Jacques (2009 ed.),

(IMHO the best book for an Angkor visitor)

- James Sullivan: Over the Moat.

(Great personal record about a love story of a Farang with a Viet girl in Hue in the 1990s)

Give me some time dammit! ;) Busy lately. I'll get a list up and even give KS the links to the books on Amazon with the ISBN and all so he can easily capture these. I did it on www.thailandstories.com before and it is fairly easy to do once you have the Amazon direct link to where it can be purchased online.

Just a matter of time.
