TroyinEwa/Perv
I'm sure the great majority here know who Bob Dylan is. Apparently 2 younger cops in the U.S. didn't. Pretty sad that one of the great songwriters and preformers of all time is treated like a homeless person. Rock legend Bob Dylan was treated like a complete unknown by police in a New Jersey shore community when a resident called to report someone wandering around the neighborhood. Dylan was in Long Branch, about a two-hour drive south of New York City, on July 23 as part of a tour with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp that was to play at a baseball stadium in nearby Lakewood. A 24-year-old police officer apparently was unaware of who Dylan is and asked him for identification, Long Branch business administrator Howard Woolley said Friday. "I don't think she was familiar with his entire body of work," Woolley said. The incident began at 5 p.m. when a resident said a man was wandering around a low-income, predominantly minority neighborhood several blocks from the oceanfront looking at houses. The police officer drove up to Dylan, who was wearing a blue jacket, and asked him his name. According to Woolley, the following exchange ensued: "What is your name, sir?" the officer asked. "Bob Dylan," Dylan said. "OK, what are you doing here?" the officer asked. "I'm on tour," the singer replied. A second officer, also in his 20s, responded to assist the first officer. He, too, apparently was unfamiliar with Dylan, Woolley said. The officers asked Dylan for identification. The singer of such classics as "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Blowin' in the Wind" said that he didn't have any ID with him, that he was just walking around looking at houses to pass some time before that night's show. The officers asked Dylan, 68, to accompany them back to the Ocean Place Resort and Spa, where the performers were staying. Once there, tour staff vouched for Dylan. The officers thanked him for his cooperation. Link
Flashermac
Maybe it was because his name is really Robert Zimmermann.
TroyinEwa/Perv
That really would have thrown them then......saying his name is Dylan and if he had ID with the last name Zimmerman. They probably would have tazered him and charged him with obstructing an investigation. Edit.......wiki says he legally changed his last name back in the early 60's so they probably wouldn't have tazered him. Maybe. edit again.......this post hits my birthyear. I'm so excited, I think I'll have another glass of wine.
unit731
It's sad but true. I, myself, have wandered streets and have not been recognized. Same, same, here. I stumle across people that do not know who I am.

Old Hippie
It's sad but true. I, myself, have wandered streets and have not been recognized. Same, same, here. I stumle across people that do not know who I am. Annie of Annies massage fame, once slapped me in the face and told me "...how many times I tell you? better to have famous name than to have a famous face, better nobody know you at all..." As for Dylan, love his music, but a friend of mine who was a serious fan ran into him by chance years ago, and before she said anything, he was off on some rant about how he wanted to be left alone and no one understood his music etc...she said fuck you and walked away...apparently, he can be a weird little prick... CTO
Didn't Bob Dylan play a les paul guitar?
TroyinEwa/Perv
Let me check. After a very slow search, I have concluded Bob Dylan seems to use a Martin brand guitar. I don't know if Mr. Martin is/was married. If he ever had kids. If he is still alive or not and I don't know either if his partner's name was Lockheed.
