Flashermac
Seh Daeng 'has low chance of survival' 11:46am Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol has swelling of the brain and has little chance of surviving, Dr Chaiwan Charoenchokethawee, director of Vajira Hospital, said in a television interview on Friday morning. "His chance of survival is quite low," Dr Chaiwan said. Dr Chaiwan said Seh Daeng is on a respiratory machine and is still unconscious. Medical teams were monitoring his condition minute by minute. He confirmed that Seh Daeng was shot once in the temple. Surgeons had operated to remove blood clots and reduce the swelling, he said. Maj-Gen Khattiya was shot near Chulalongkorn Hospital while he was giving an interview to a group of foreign reporters on Thursday night. Earlier reports said the bullet exited through the back of his neck. Link
Flashermac
Army denies shooting Seh Daeng 12:22pm The Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) denied ordering the shooting of Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol, or Seh Daeng, who was shot in the head on Thursday night and critically wounded. CRES spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said CRES had no plans of killing Seh Daeng. However, he admitted that it would be hard to find the shooter. "It would be hard to arrest the 'invisible hand' but authorities will try its best to find the shooter," he said, adding that similar situation happened with a soldier who was shot dead at the National Memorial last month. The dead soldier was identified as Pvt Narongrit Sala, who was shot in the head while riding a motorcycle towards the National Memorial during clashes between troops and red-shirt protesters on April 28. Whoever is doing the shootings is a trained killer, a hitman!
KimDidMeGood
I'd figure Suthep is likely to be the next target. The hard core reds seem to blame him for everything. That's possible, but I see Sansern and Prayuth more in worry than Suthep. I see those shootings as more internal to the military than purely political. It's just a nuance, though, as far as the Thai military is highly political. Also things are spiraling so the two layers might well merge into a single messy one. Flashermac
<< Observers said the attack on Maj Gen Khattiya could lead to the red rally ending soon. "It's a clear attempt to decapitate the red shirt military leadership," said Anthony Davis, a security consultant with IHS-Jane's. "It's a smart tactical move that will cause confusion in the red shirts' military ranks and send a message to the leadership that if they don't want to negotiate and come out, they can expect extreme consequences," he told Reuters. >> Bangkok Post ...
