Palatkik
From NY Times online (comments): I was at Sala Deang area near the MRT station. A group of us reported about noise coming from the the Dusit hotel. What looked like a long stick extended from the roof top. Within minutes, the general was speaking to his supporters, offering water to an elderly lady and giving her a hug. Moments later, a shot was heard from overhead. The object had been pulled back and a man with a black hood stood up and walked away. About 5 min. later. A man wearing the same outfit was escorted out of the hotel into a black police van. Quickly, it took off and proceeded to go up Rama 4 and turned left to go towards MBK. Military officers where seen smiling and shaking each others hands from this killing of this man. Our party was told by an army officer. You have seen nothing, go back to your hotel at once or you will be arrested and deported. He repeated again and again. You've seen nothing, nothing to see here. Go back to your hotels. Staff at the Dusit hotel were seen outside, talking to a few of the officers. LizardKing
Good. They are all heroes! As Texans say "some guys just need killin'!" He was shamelessly the main cause of the violence, by his own admission. Good riddance. In any other country he would have been put in front of a firing squad. So it goes... I'd say that shot saved many lives of women & children who would be used as human shields by this coward's black-clad "mysterious ronin warriors." BaronTT
There seem to be at least some aspects of this that are factually incorrect, such as the direction of the van after leaving the hotel. Maybe because it was written by a tourist that doesn't know their way around? While this sounds reasonable, you need to put a critical eye to everything you read. Pom Michael
"Quickly, it took off and proceeded to go up Rama 4 and turned left to go towards MBK." Can someone visually these directions? Up Rama 4 Left Toward MBK
Flashermac
Sounds like a pretty suspicious report to me. Just conveniently happened to be there at the right time? Also, if this was an authorised hit by the CRES, I'll have a lot less repect for Abhisit. Assassination doesn't sound like his style. (Wouldn't put it past Suthep though.) Maybe the reds have been right all along and the mysterious "men in black" really are military officers.
LizardKing
Any reports are beside the point. I do not think that there is any question that the military took Seh Daeng out. The rest is moot IMHO. And I stand by my assessment that this was a good thing and will prove to save many lives.

Flashermac
But is the military being "independent" of the government again? Then again Chuan gave the go ahead for the execution of all the prisoners when Johnny of the Black Tongue's loonies embarrassed him by seizing that Thai hospital. Every prisoner was shot in the back of the head while "escaping" blindfolded and bound. Some were as young as 15.
KimDidMeGood
This shit ain't gonna end well for anyone. With the UDD leadership in shambles and a probable takeover by the most extreme elements, their future actions are wildly unpredictable, but most likely will be very nasty. One the other side, there's no guarantee that a crackdown will succeed notwithstanding more or less amount of loss of lives, and either way it will damage Abhisit's premiership durably. As the saying goes, "We ain't seen nothing yet." Scary.
Flashermac
Nothing like making a hero of Seh Daeng. He may be a nutter, but he is courageous and has many admirers. If it comes to assassination, there are plenty on the red side willing to join in as well. As you say, nobody wins and everybody loses. I'd figure Suthep is likely to be the next target. The hard core reds seem to blame him for everything.
