The US Marines have landed.

UPDATE: Aug. 13, 4:04 p.m. -- The Guardian and ABC News report a team of U.S. Marines and special forces have landed on Mt. Sinjar to assess the military situation and the potential for a civilian evacuation route.

According to the news, 130 more advisors have arrived. But that is in addition to the 350 already there. Sort of reminds you of the way the U.S. got involved in the Vietnam War. :hmmm:

If one looks at any forum. Could be an innocuous forum on traveling, movies, etc. and if you see any race related article, no matter how innocent. There will ALWAYS be a comment in the comoment section that is racially charged. A former classmate of mine works for an organization that tracks these things and said its now part of the modern day methods to go to various sites and use subtle forms of recruitment and also to incite. Its a tactic that is now in place on the net. Go to Yahoo News and its always got someone on there saying the most hateful things. The electronic media is now the new staging area. I fear this forum may be on the radar as well.

The number of Patriot groups, including armed militias, skyrocketed following the election of President Obama in 2008 – rising 813 percent, from 149 groups in 2008 to an all-time high of 1,360 in 2012. The number fell to 1,096 in 2013.

This growth in extremism has been aided by mainstream media figures and politicians who have used their platforms to legitimize false propaganda about immigrants and other minorities and spread the kind of paranoid conspiracy theories on which militia groups thrive.

Gotta love Fox News - Sean Hannity - Alex Jones - for supporting and encouraging such people and behavior.

The COP killers were at the Bundy Ranch supporting "freedom" !

Jerad Miller During Gunfight

The suspects were carrying three guns when they killed two police officers who were having lunch, police said. The firearms — a Smith & Wesson 9 mm, a Ruger .38-caliber revolver and a Winchester 1300 12-gauge pump-action shotgun with a pistol grip — were later recovered.

The bullet that killed Las Vegas gunman Jerad Miller came from a police officer’s rifle, authorities confirmed Wednesday, revealing video surveillance footage from the final shootout.

Initial reports said Miller’s wife, Amanda, fatally shot him before she committed suicide Sunday amid a gunfight with cops in a Las Vegas Walmart.

New book: Being assigned to Hillary Clinton’s Secret Service detail “a form of punishmentâ€

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/power-players-abc-news/new-book--being-assigned-to-hillary-clinton-s-secret-service-detail-%E2%80%9Ca-form-of-punishment%E2%80%9D-213322171.html

There’s no worse assignment for a Secret Service agent than protecting Hillary Clinton, if claims in a controversial new book are to be believed.

Ronald Kessler’s book, “First Family Detail,†is filled with salacious revelations about the secret personal lives of the nation’s most high-profile political leaders. But the authenticity of those revelations has been called into question over factual inaccuracies in the book, as well as its reliance on anonymous Secret Service agents.

“She is so nasty to agents that being assigned to her detail is considered a form of punishment,†Kessler told “Top Line†of Clinton, who continues to receive Secret Service protection as a former first lady.

“It shines a light on her character,†Kessler said. “She claims to be a champion of the little people, and she's going to help the middle class. And, in fact, she treats these people around her, [who] would lay down their lives for her like sub-humans; and I think voters need to consider that.â€

The second-worst Secret Service assignment is Vice President Joe Biden, Kessler said. Though Biden is reportedly “very nice to agents,†Kessler said, his security detail is exhausted from frequent last-minute trips to his home in Delaware, and some are offended by what Kessler writes is a “habit of swimming in his pool nude.â€

“He likes to skinny-dip both at the pool at his vice president residence in Washington and his home in Wilmington, and female agents are very offended by that,†Kessler said. “And, in fact, you could make a case that it's almost sexual harassment.â€...

I've never understood why former President's family need secret service protection for life. When was the last time a wife or child were threatened or kidnapped? Protection for the VP ends when they leave office. From what I've read about Hillary, she has a horrible temper and treats subordinates like crap. She most definitely does not have the common touch and empathy for less well off Americans (which covers 99.9%). Concerning Biden's skinny dipping, women can't have it both ways. Women sportscasters demand access to men's locker rooms, where their are nude men. The job description for SS agents is to protect the person that they are assigned to 24/7. It's not as if Biden is whipping out his cock in front of them. Now, if male SS agents had to see Hillary skinny dipping, that would be cruel and inhuman punishment.

Military veterans see flawed police response in Ferguson

Jet-black rifles leveled at unarmed citizens and mine-resistant vehicles once used to patrol the roadways of Iraq and Afghanistan rumbling through small town America. These are scenes playing out in Ferguson, Mo., which has been racked by protests for the last week following the fatal shooting of an unarmed 19-year-old named Michael Brown.

For veterans of the wars that the Ferguson protests so closely resemble, the police response has appeared to be not only heavy-handed but out of step with the most effective ways for both law enforcement and military personnel to respond to demonstrations.

"You see the police are standing online with bulletproof vests and rifles pointed at peoples chests," said Jason Fritz, a former Army officer and an international policing operations analyst. "That’s not controlling the crowd, that’s intimidating them."

The protests in Ferguson began in earnest just a day after Brown was killed, when a prayer vigil for the slain teen turned into an evening of looting.

Scriven King, a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force’s law enforcement component and a SWAT officer, attributed the initial spasm of violence to a lack of leadership and mismanagement of public perception on the Ferguson Police Department’s behalf.

"The first thing that went wrong was when the police showed up with K-9 units," Scriven said. "The dogs played on racist imagery. ... It played the situation up and [the department] wasn’t cognizant of the imagery."

King added that, instead of de-escalating the situation on the second day, the police responded with armored vehicles and SWAT officers clad in bulletproof vests and military-grade rifles.

"We went through some pretty bad areas of Afghanistan, but we didn’t wear that much gear," said Kyle Dykstra, an Army veteran and former security officer for the State Department. Dykstra specifically pointed out the bulletproof armor the officers were wearing around their shoulders, known as "Deltoid" armor.

"I can’t think of a [protest] situation where the use of M4 [rifles] are merited," Fritz said. "I don’t see it as a viable tactic in any scenario."

Ferguson police have defended their handling of the protests and said some demonstrators have been trying to "co-opt" peaceful protests. But while the Ferguson and St. Louis county police departments may have made their presence felt in the streets, they have made only limited use of social media.

"They’ve kept people in an information black hole," King said, mentioning that their decision not to share details about operations more widely has only exacerbated the situation.

"There has not been a dialogue about the tactical situation the officers faced," he said, referring to the fact that there might have been a reason that caused the officers to respond with such heavy equipment. "There could have been threats to the officers, but that information has not been shared to the public."

As the violence continued to escalate over the course of the week, King said, Ferguson police also exacerbated tensions by allowing individual officers to engage with protesters.

"Officers were calling the protesters ’animals,’ " King said. "I can’t imagine a military unit would do that in any scenario."

King added that if it were a military unit in a similar situation there would be a public affairs officer or civil affairs engagement team that would help bridge the gap between the riot control elements and the general population.

"I would hate to call the Ferguson response a military one," he said. "Because it isn’t, it’s an aberration."

Arizona math teacher arrives drunk to class and keeps drinking: police

http://news.yahoo.com/arizona-math-teacher-arrives-drunk-class-keeps-drinking-211527187.html

A teacher at Poston Butte High School was cited for consumption of alcohol in public after she admitted to drinking in her classroom during her lunch on Wednesday.

Kathleen Jardine, 57, of Chandler, could also be facing a disorderly conduct charge, according to a press release from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation began when a student in Jardine's math class called the school's main office to report that Jardine was intoxicated and yelling at students.

A school resource deputy was asked to assist the principal. The deputy said he could tell Jardine was extremely intoxicated.

Initially, Jardine denied drinking any alcohol but later admitted she drank on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning before school and during lunch in her classroom.

Jardine blew a .205 breath alcohol concentration, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

She told the deputy that she took a taxi cab to school because she was afraid that she was too drunk to drive.

A school security officer went to Jardine's classroom to get her purse and discovered a half full 750 ml bottle of Fleischmann’s Vodka, an empty single serving size bottle of Beringer white wine and a half full bottle of Sunny D. Jardine confirmed the alcohol belonged to her.

The school resource deputy interviewed six of the student witnesses from the class. They reported she was intoxicated, was yelling at students and cursing.

"The Florence Unified School District has a close working relationship with our office to ensure the safety and security of their students," said Sheriff Paul Babeu. "School officials immediately took action and notified our school resource deputy as soon as they discovered Jardine was intoxicated."

On Tuesday, Jardine got an Extreme DUI in Gilbert, according to Sheriff Babeu. She was stopped in a school zone while driving home from school at approximately 3:40 p.m. Her BAC was measured at .257 by a portable breath test.

She was arrested by Gilbert police and her vehicle was impounded. That is why she had to take a taxi cab to work on Wednesday.

"Obviously she needs help," Sheriff Babeu said. "We want to see that she gets help but she's also going to be held accountable for creating this disturbance in the school."

"Learning math can be hard enough, I can’t imagine trying to learn it from a drunk teacher," said Sheriff Paul Babeu. "This is not the first time teacher Kathleen Jardine has been intoxicated in the classroom."

In September of 2011, Jardine was a math teacher at Belen High School...

OK. Inappropriate behavior.

But I have personally viewed the students attending Florence Unified School District.

And quite honestly . . . . more then a few of those students would drive any sober person to drink.
