radioman
I need to purchase an iPhone 4 in BKK. I need it to be unlocked and I need to be able to use my AIS postpaid SIM card in it. Where should I consider buying it? Price is not a major factor as my company will be paying for it. Just need it to be the real deal but open for any service provider either in Thailand or other countries as and when required. Thanks

radioman
Thanks, didn't realise AIS was selling them as well, thought it was only True who had that contract. Hopefully the AIS ones are not locked. Cheers
Coss
AFAIK locking only applies to the US market.

Coss
Really? locked to a specific Carrier?
kamui
Really? locked to a specific Carrier? And Germany. Usually iPhones come with a contract and therefore they are locked. Price for an unlocked iPhone 4 32 GB = 800 EUR / 1.080 USD...
MooNoi
Yep. Usually got to pay a an "unlocking fee" of $80 - $100 or so, and most carriers will only let you do this after a minimum of 6 months of the 2 year contract.
Coss
Ahh, I thought that like NZ, Outside of the USA you could pay for the phone only and choose the carrier and use prepay. My bad.
Old Hippie
ATT (in the USA) was supposedly going to offer some sort of unlock code with conditions...no idea what that status is. They do offer it for other phones...no fee for the 3-4 previous phones I had.
