Coss
yep, and now the next OS X - Lion - will expand, to knacker the capabilities of the hardware, and I'll be back to square one

gobbledonk
Very nice. I have largely become immune to computers, working with various models all week long, but the iPad bug is ever present. Must be strong and resist all temptation. I hate being strong, btw.

khunsanuk
Hi, So, about 3x the speed. Is it noticable? I recently went from a Pentium 5 (I think) to an iCore5. PC seemed a lot faster, but it is so easy to get used to things. And of course this runs W7 rather than XP, so that's likely to impact speed as well. Sanuk! Coss
"Is it noticable?" yes very and 4 cores with "hyperthreading" look like 8 cores almost overkill
waerth
Hmmmm after 4 years with my Toshiba Satellite 100 dualcore 1.78 (or something like that) laptop I need a new one to. Unfortunately no money for it. So I dumped 4 gb Ram into it and it now runs very well (used to have 1 gb Ram). It is a compromise but I guess it will give me another 1 or 2 years or so before bogging down. W
Coss
It's surprising that computer vendors habitually sell computers that are effectively crippled by insufficient RAM, when the cost of RAM to them is small. If they put in max RAM at point of sale, their customer satisfaction ratings would sky rocket
khunsanuk
Hi, Agree. When I bought my latest PC, I immediately went for 4Gb of RAM. Sanuk!
