US saving the world and going down the tubes!!

Part of Obama's rationale for attaching Libya: ""To brush aside America's responsibility as a leader and — more profoundly — our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are," Obama said. "Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries.".

Ugh, what about responsibilities to US citizens. There are now 24 million children in the US living in poverty. Poverty is defined as a family of four with an income less than $22,000. I saw a clip of one such family - living in a van, the two children cleaning up in a Walmart restroom before going to school. Considering single parent homes, we are talking about, what? 40 million people. That means there are more people in the US living in poverty than the combined populations of Iraq and Libya.

Meanwhile, the current national debt is $128K per tax payer, $46K per person. Glad I am an old pucker and won't be around to pay my share.

But, don't worry, Obama, his wife and two children went to Rio for the weekend. It wasn't a holiday, it was for job creation!! And, just in the nick of time because the economic stimulus package certainly didn't create jobs and reduce unemployment. Thank God Rio is going to save the day!!

Ya, it's gotta be those fat cat teachers unions.

"Need a stark breakdown of just why it is that attacks on public employees in Wisconsin and beyond are striking such a nerve? Take a look at this chart from the Center for American Progress comparing tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy to budget cuts to 10 social safety net programs."

"When you look at average tax rates, the big downward swings seem to correlate both with good times in the market and reductions in the capital gains tax rate—which dropped from 28% to 20% in 1997, and from 20% to 15% in 2003. The differential between capital gains tax rates and the tax rate on regular income also explains why those making more than $110.6 million a year pay taxes at a lower rate than those making $300,000 or $400,000 a year—because the really rich get a much higher percentage of their income from capital gains than the HENRYs do.

Same as with the prison system in the US. One of the biggest boom industries.

PS What ever happened to the "One" USA thread :dunno:

It appears the USA is doing just about everything in her power to keep the illegal drugs flowing into the country so the police, courts, lawyers, prison guards, etc. all get their 'fair' share of the money.

Getting a DUI in the USA can cost up to $20,000.00! and that is for a first time offense.

As for the USA thread....... I guess this thread's original poster didn't notice that thread.

So true.

King O has his head completely up his azz and has no idea what it is really like in the USA.

If it isn't on his teleprompter, then he can make no comment on anything.

Agree 120%. The guy has been on the dole since he arrived on our shores. He not only has no idea what life is like for those making under $300,000/year, he doesn't have a friggin' clue about anything. :cussing: (Even Jimmy Carter is looking better every week.)
