Mekong
An Iranian man was severely injured when he threw a bomb at police that hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon, reports said. Two bombs went off on Sukhumvit 71 road, injuring five people, including an Iranian man, the reports said. According to a television news report, an Iranian man carrying a black bag hurled the first bomb at a taxi after the driver refused to accept him as a passenger. When police arrived at the scene, the foreigner then threw a second bomb at them, but it hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded. He lost both of his legs in the blast, the report said. Klong Ton police said the explosion occurred about 2pm outside Kasempithaya School in Soi Pridiphanomyong 31-33. Police were investigating and had temporarily closed Klong Ton and Phra Khanong intersections. Initially, police were unsure whether there were explosives in the black bag. The injured Iranian was later rushed to Kluaynamthai Hospital. My link

khunsanuk
Hi, And another report here Two explosions happened in Sukhumvit Soi 71 or Phrakanong, the first one damaging a taxi at Soi Pridi Bhanomyong 31 and injuring the driver and three other people while the second one exploded in front of the Kasem Pittaya School at Soi Pridi Bhanomyong 35. A foreigner was found with his two legs blown off at the scene of the second explosion. The road has now been closed off to traffic as police are concerned there may be more bombs hidden in the area. Those living in the area are urged to remain indoors. All of the injured have been transported to the Kluaynamthai Hospital except for the foreigner who was transported to Chulalongkorn Hospital. Doctors at Kluaynamthai Hospital said 2 of the injured have ringing in their ears while 2 others have non-life threatening wounds. Police confirmed the foreigner is an Iranian named Sayed Murabi. Police also reported another explosion at House Number 66 Pridi Bhanomyong Soi 31, which is said to be the rented home of the foreigner. He is said to have been living with two other foreigners who were not home when the explosion happened. Police believe the Iranian national bombed his rented house first and then left the house and tried to hail down a taxi. When the taxi driver refused to pick him up, he got angry and threw a grenade at the taxi. Police then started pursuing him upon which he tried to throw another grenade at them but missed and blew off his own legs. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who's on a provincial tour, has been informed of the bombings in Bangkok. Defense Minister Air Chief Marshall Sukumpol Suwanatat says he has ordered a check whether the explosions are a terrorist attack. Love the bolded line, it insinuates that ringing ears can be fatal Sanuk!
Horneytorney
PM urges public not to panic following Sukhumvit bombing now in Nation: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingnews/PM-urges-public-not-to-panic-following-Sukhumvit-b-30175855.html Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Tuesday urged the public not to panic over three explosions in Bangkok's Sukhumvit 71 Road related to three Iranians. She said police and intelligence agencies are investigating the case. "I would like to ask the people not to panic. The authorities have now arrested an attacker," Yingluck said. The Nation no surprise Yingluck has no clue how to handle even such a small little incident of some mad but crack-handed guys!
Flashermac
Board wouldn't load enough to read, so I started another thread before I saw this. Anyway, here's a video from the Thai TV coverage. From the shrapnel holes in the taxi, it looks like the perp through a frag grenade. Boo Radley
Pic of one of the suspects, 42-year-old Iranian Mohammad Hazaei, who was captured today at Suwannaphum airport after fleeing from the house. He was bound for Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia on an Air Asia flight. http://news.sanook.com/1098195/%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%84%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%93%E0%B8%A0%E0%B8%B9%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%B4-%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%A3%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%99-%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B0%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%87/ One Thai quipped on the thread that the Thai police can be quite efficient in bringing people to justice unless it's a Thai hiso or politician... Flashermac
Unfortunately, the Iranian couldn't say ... "DO YOU KNOW WHO MY FATHER IS?" p.s. The proper response to that question is, "Why, don't you know? Are you a bastard?"
