All Thais Are Banned From Carrying Guns After Tragedies - ?

Despite the government’s efforts to take strict measures to control gun violence following the shooting of a 17-year-old at Paragon in October, there have been at least two other incidents in Bangkok recently.

The first incident occurred on Saturday, November 11, when a group of teenagers were involved in a shootout in which Maria Sirada Sinprasert, also known as “Teacher Jeab” who teaches computer skills at Sacred Heart Convent School, was accidentally shot. She was shot in front of TMB Thanachart Bank, Khlong Toey Branch, Sunthorn Kesa Road. She later died in hospital.

A group of parents and students of Sacred Heart Convent School laid flowers to mourn the loss of “Teacher Jeab” Maria Sirada Sinpraserton on November 13, in front of TMB Thanachart Bank, Khlong Toey Branch.

On Monday morning, November 13, there was another incident when two groups of teenagers exchanged gunfire and explosives. A 15-year-old 5th grade student was killed in the crossfire near the entrance to Soi Phatthanakan 53, which runs parallel to the Bangkok-Chonburi motorway in Suan Luang district. 

Anutin Charnvirakul, the Interior Minister, spoke out in favour of banning all Thai citizens from carrying weapons.

“We cannot allow people to carry guns because if students and teachers are shot like this, can society bear it? It’s not just about vocational students, it’s about everyone,” said Anutin.

Anutin also addressed the problem that there are more than 10 million legally owned firearms in Thailand. He explained that instead of allowing individuals to carry guns for self-defence, it is crucial to strengthen trust in the law and the state to ensure public safety. Thai gun ownership is estimated at 15.1 per 100 citizens compared to the country most like to bash about gun control the USA which is 120 per 100 yet the gun homicide rate is similar 4.45/10 TH v 4.46/100 USA. So in Thailand you are 8 times more likely to be murdered by a gun owner than in the USA.

Tourism Authority of Thailand never put that in their adverts for “Amazing Thailand” you will be amazed how many gum murders there are here but we keep quiet about.

On a less serious issue, gun fights between students, especially at trade schools is getting out of hand.

 

Family member had a group of kids shoot up their house, by mistake as the idiots got the wrong house,

Only the “High Profile” shootings make the headlines, in the same week 2 people were killed ar Siam Paragon there were another 60 gun murders in Thailand, but Luong Somchai getting shot in Nakhon Nowhere or Bpaa Pornchai from Baan Nok are not news worthy since it doesn’t impact the HiSo image
