  1. Hi, "territorial separation" What fucking planet is this guy on? "and prohibit Thais from entering their land" Or charge Thais a higher price to enter, which of course would be a despicable, racist thing to do. Certainly not anything a Thai person/company/government would ever do to foreigners. Sanuk!
  2. Hi, Monopolies are the only way the big companies in Thailand know how to operate. It's not just beer and tobacco, meat production is solely in the hands of CP. A bit more competition would be good for consumers. Sanuk!
  3. Hi, To me this is yet another "FUCK YOU!" to the majority of expats living in Thailand. It is clear the government doesn't give a fuck about us, unless we are rich. "in my wife's name" Then it is the same. You do not own that land either, your wife does. I could buy as many rai as I'd want in TH as well, IF put in my wife's name. Sanuk!
  4. Hi, The tourist visa part is plain stupid, but I could easily see a scenario where some official gave them permission to enter and then threw them under the bus when it became clear that he should not have given them this permission. Sanuk!
  5. Hi, Yeah, it is all still pretty vague. One thing I can tell you is that places to buy weed are now everywhere. Sanuk!
  6. Hi, Hardly a surprising outcome I guess at least he will not be PM again after the next elections. Unless of course he decides to cheat again. Sanuk!
  7. Hi, Obviously I do this when away from home For example, had lunch in Terminal 21 a little while back and when it was time to head back to the office I found out it was raining heavily in Asoke. So, quick check revealed it was not raining at home, so rather than waiting for the rain to stop, I went home and worked from home the rest of the day. Sanuk!
  8. Hi, We installed a few security cameras at home after the renovation and this is actually what I use them for often Quick check if it is raining at home. Sanuk!
  9. Hi, Ah, okay. Seems kinda pointless. As you said, everyone living in BKK for more than a few minutes will have seen a traffic jam. Sanuk!
  10. Hi, Isn't this info that is already displayed on Google Maps? (Don't really check this as I don't drive) Also, what would be the point in creating an account? Don't see anything that mentions what the benefits of this would be. Sanuk!
  11. Hi, Yes, he will definitely be missed. As mentioned his BBQ parties were a blast. I too was not aware of his daughter's death either. Combine that with his health issues and having to move back to the US, this last year or so must have been hell. RIP Suadum KS (PS As likely a lot of people on this board recall him, I figured this warranted a thread of its own rather than being buried in the Global RIP thread)
  12. Hi, I think that is fine, as long as you don't use any fake tattoos at the same time. Sanuk!
  13. Hi, "which they can take home" Never to use them again. Just fucking rent them out so they can be re-used. Sanuk!
  14. Hi, Interesting read (although a bit shoddily written), but nothing in there that will really surprise anyone in Thailand. Sadly. Nor will this change anything. Most likely it will disappear out of the public's eye soon, after which everything will be business as usual again. Sanuk!
  15. Hi, That $80K is ridiculous as well. A single person could easily live very comfortably on half that. The $80K is more than 20 times the minimum wage and about 4 times the salary required for a work permit (for people from most Western countries). Sanuk!
  16. Hi, They are really hung up on this '1 million', aren't they? When they tried this with the elite card, it was also expected they'd get 1 million people. And just like with that, this'll fail to reach that number. Sanuk!
  17. Hi, And here in Thailand ... Former secretary got her license after 6 hours of 'lessons' driving on a converted parking lot. Did not spend a single minute in actual traffic. Sanuk!
  18. Hi, With Mekong on this. Out of all the countries in the region I can't really see me living anywhere else. MY and ID are out due to the religion, PH as well to be honest. SG too expensive. HK as well and now basically part of CN. KH, LA and VN still too under developed I think (just my feeling, not spent time in any of them for years or ever). MM, just no. Pretty much settled here. Last year we bought the house we'd been renting for 20+ years and have spent 3 months totally renovating it earlier this year (and I mean totally :), new roof, replace all electric, replace all windows, new ceilings, re-painted, new kitchen). As for when it loses it appeal, I guess it depends a bit on what part. The nightlife scene lost its appeal to me 2 decades ago, but I still love living here. I guess priorities shift when you go from being single to married to having kids to having grand kids (1st one due in about 2 months). Sanuk!
  19. HI, To me it reads mostly as a "let's pat ourselves on the back" survey. No substance what so ever. How about questions like? - How do you feel about the 90-day reporting? - What are your views on land ownership? - How do you feel about the government engaging in and promoting dual-pricing? Sanuk!
  20. Hi, Well, at least you are honest about it. One of my friends just claims that it isn't that bad and it will get better in time. Sanuk!
  21. Hi, >My guess is the Thai embassy, the immigration don't all have the same info. More like, nobody giving a fuck and just making shit up as they go. I get the impression this happens quite a bit in Thai gov. Good to hear (read?) that you had a nice vacation and sorry you couldn't work things out. That's life, I guess. Sanuk!
  22. Hi, I wish they put as much effort into solving other crimes, like, oh I don't know, the murder of 2 Brits on Koh Tao. I guess it is different if victim instead of the perpetrator is famous. Sanuk!
  23. Hi, Good to hear you are still around! Sanuk!
