He didn't get out of that war unscathed neither and yes, he did revisit and ade a book out of it, which I haven't read btw. I did read one or two books of his about the Vietnam war. Interesting books they were. One of his mates, son of a famous Hollywood movie star (damn, is Alzheimer setting in already, I think it was Flynn) drove off on his bike into Cambodia and was never ever seen again. Just my opinion.
