Kite_Flyer
Question for the gourmands on the board - Can anybody recommend a good pizza place, preferably somewhere in the Sukhumvit area? Much as I love Thai food and am more than happy to eat Thai most of the time there are times when I have an overwhelming urge to eat pizza. For me a good pizza accompanied by a good red wine is a meal fit for a king. I'm not keen on the chains such as Pizza Hut. A place that cooks good pizza in a wood-fired oven would fit the bill very nicely. It would also be helpful if the menu was in Thai and English as the GF doesn't read much English. Pom Michael
So many of them, it would be a nice effort to list all the pizza places between Soi 0 and 63 but would probably take the collective energy of the board to do it. Surely would be more than 100. http://www.dininginthailand.com/restaurant8.asp http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2768253-bangkok_restaurants-i-cus-Italian http://www.bangkoktonight.com/restaurants/italian.shtml http://www.luxurythai.com/finedining/dining_italian.php Now, if you are looking only for Pizzaria's - there are many good ones: Limoncello on Soi 11 Le Opera on Soi 39 Bella Napoli on Soi 31 is a personal favorite
..
My favourite in the city is Basilico on Suk soi 33. Try the Salame e Salsiccia plus mushrooms. Heaven! Menu here. Eat in cheaper than the prices shown on this menu. Cheers, SD
samak
Limoncello (Soi 11) is very popular; you can probably spot some local VIP's, if you get a seat! L'Opera (Soi 39) has beside the main restaurant (classic Italian cuisine) a Pizzeria, which would be my favourite recommendation. Bella Napoli (Soi 31) is IMHO overrated. lousy service and mediocre food. Toscana next door is much better. and...most of the Italian restaurants (there are around 25 in the Sukhumvit area only) serve Pizza!
Nervous_Dog
Agree with Suadan, my next fav is Diablo in Soi 49. Pizzas here WAY over priced! DOG
samak
Diablo in Soi 49? you mean Duilio?
..
Ugh. I found the pizza I ordered on Food by Phone from Duilio's to be inedible. I threw 3/4 of it away. L'Opera is good, too, but operating hours inconvenient as I generally eat pizza as a luncheon meal. Cheers, SD
Dumsoda
Have to agree that Basilico really does it for me. Perfectly located as well, just a mere hop, step and jump from all sorts of "other eateries" Cheers Dumsoda
Nervous_Dog
Duillios, yes! They had a great lunch time offering, maybe not in the USA style but thin crusts, real salads with Fetta cheese!
samak
agree with your opinion about Duilio. one of the worst italian IMHO. but ND seem to like it! I think we discussed this already in a former thread about italian food.
