She has the power, she knows it...say he sets a limit. draws the line, and she tells him ok, fuck off...now what? think that will be the end? it won't...he will run back again, and again...if he doesn't (and he will), he will wonder "was I too hard? it was my fault " etc...he can't win this one...the only way to win this game is not to play, and too late, he has already played.
