khun zelo zelo foh ,

at that time of the day I am , sorry , usually under te influence of France's finest , not Chirac but a certain liquid from 1998 . Even so , I am impressed by your statement to have 92 users on your ignore list . Can you hear me ??

Considering that only the higher frequency posters would enrage you sufficiently , I guess that you totally get aware of maybe 4 posts a week . You ignore the rest , phantastic . Whom are you talking to ? What about this Khunsanurk ?

Wouldn't it be better to join an ignore-board where people register and promise never to post anything ? And if somebody breaks the rules you put him on the ignore-bord ignore-list and can start talking .

This world is full of miracles ; it just crosses my mind that I started to explain you my life by PM several weeks ago , where did I stop ? Shall we meet next week Friday at the National Stadium , put each other on ignore and enjoy the silence ?

Ah, yes, living well is the best revenge. :smirk:

I hope you have a safe and relaxing flight over here.

You've selected the best time of year:

Weather is dry, many days a light haze to cut the sun, and often with a good breeze to stir the air.

I'm perplexed as to why you have 92 (!!!!!!!!!!) users on ignore...

But you wont be able to read this i guess...i'm sure i made your list at some point...even though i try to avoid upsetting anyone...

I don't have anyone on ignore, neither will i...i like to know what people are writing about.

The regulars aren't that accomodating however, on a few meetings I found it very hard to get more than a nod, if at all, from some people attending.

One is not necessarily made feel welcome, if one doesn't know the folks attending. JMHI.

I think it is more of an opportunity for newbies to connect with ex-pats in a fairly easy way. It seems that many members now have their own small circles who frequently socialise both in LOS and abroad so the Friday nights at Gullies have in the long run been benefitial to them. [/b]

Agree fully with both these posts.

Being the shy reserved type, myself, I almost didn't come back after my first "attempt" at attending a meeting....In fact the first time I don't think I even stayed for a drink....

I really felt like I was Imposing on a Private Club....my response being a one finger salute...lol..

Glad I made the effort to re-visit....thanks I think to ND & SD

bust's right, now a couple of years on and I find myself amongst a core group of like minded people, who have become good friends. I travel a fair bit and find myself meeting up with these friends all over the world

I am not a regular attendee at the meetings, mainly due to the fact that I do not like Gullibles and also my time is often short. If it comes down to a choice of attending the meeting or attending to the needs of Miss P....then it's no contest...lol...sorry Guys, but that's the way it is. 555

I'm still of the personal opinion that the Belgian Dog should be given a crack at looking after the meetings.

Here we have a fellow member who has made an offer and is prepared to look after us (albeit a business opportunity)

and what happens.....every Tom, Dick & Harry now want to put in their 2 cents for somewhere else...WTF !!!

What about.....Run a trial...

Give the Belgian Dog a 2 month "Test Run"....see how it goes...

Nothing ventured...nothing gained...

You can always go back to that boring shit hole if you decide it's not working.

Cheers DS

I've only attended one meeting, Woodstock in early 2001, but I can tell you that it was important to me, so I'd hate to see them go.

This may be long winded, but possibly for the benefit of newbies, I'll share my experience.

Sitting at the bar at Woodstock and observing guys starting to gather at the upper dining section. Being both part shy and part snob, I asked myself if I really wanted to know these people.

The section eventually started to fill up so, with a few beers in me, I gathered the courage to wander over there. The first guy I met was a gregarious American guy who quickly announced, "usvirgin? You're famous! Hey everyone, this is usvirgin!" He was a friendly and well intentioned guy, but the thought of being famous for posting too much on a message board kind of freaked me out.

Still, I tried to make my way around and I can say that everyone I met there was quite pleasant, with the exception of that ear doctor (?) guy that was bending KS's ear - I thought that guy was creepy. (I don't know if you remember that guy KS, I don't think he posts here anymore).

As I recall, I met Stickman there, maybe WYD, one of the fatbastards on the board, and KS. Dean Barrett was there, but I regret we didn't meet that night.

The important thing was that, after the meeting, Loo_Doot took me under his wing and off to The Pink Panther bar in Patpong, where I met a bunch of guys, a few of whom I'd already met at a dance contest at Rififi the night before.

Some of those guys I now call close friends, even if we live 9K miles apart. If Loo_Doot hadn't had the kindness to show a newbie around, I'm not sure I'd have all these friends today.

So, I guess my point is, wherever you decide to meet (I like Livingstone's), be nice to newbies!

PS. The first person I met off this message board (at the dance contest) was Itsmedave, and he introduced himself to me. Thanks Dave!

Hi,

I like the idea of the calender (and will certainly add the meetings once Jigger upgrades us to 2.01). Also the special events seem like a nice idea, although I am not really sure how they would work logistically. Might still be worth trying though.

As for the meetings, I am seriously considering just talking to a bunch of the regulars and making a decision with just them. No offense meant to others, but at the end of the day it is them who will either make it work or not.

Sanuk!
