Brown Is New British PM

I think Blair is viewed as a charasmatic fine purveyor of ultimate bullshit...i guess they hope he can spin his way around the middle east. It can't get any worse....so why not let the smiling bafoon try...?

Brown is dull, insipid, smug, irritating, uninspiring and craves power. I suspect that next election he will be gone....he's kinda like a CEO figure for England corp. Cameron will annihilate him in PMQs...he has no discernable projected personality and looks vulnerable and fragile to me.

I think he will be slightly to the left of Blair and will initially focus the things were Blair was perceived to have failed. Bush will get a cooler reception for sure, the NHS will face a shake up, the health secretary and foreign secretary have already been fired, I think more will follow. I just heard Blair as already resigned his seat in parliament so he's no longer a MP, things are certainly happening. The funniest thing to have happened is the MP for Grantham (Thatchers ex constituancy) has defected to labour :applause::rotfl::rotfl:

Lots of people saying he has been a great chancellor and all that. Might be just coincidence that he was in charge during a prosperous business cycle...

Dont think it matters that he is Scottish. If you were to take that attitude then the whole economy would fall apart. Britain is full of people from all nationalities and the better for it IMHO...

what i find objectenable is the fact that Scottish MP's can decide what we English do but we English have no say as to what happens in Scotland.

it should be the same across the board.

it's the same with the European question.

the UK is alowly having it's laws and heritage eroded by Countries and their Politicians who have hated us for Centuries.

how would Americans feel if North and South America joined and formed one Parliament(Senate)?.

would you be happy if your laws were changed and decided by Chileans?.

IMO if Brown wants to appeal to me then just a few things i suggest that would make me a happy bunny and vote for him.

1.anyone over 40 gets free air travel to Thailand.

2.anyone over 40 gets free drinks in drinking establishments.

3.anyone over 40 is exempt from the smoking ban which comes into effect soon.

4.free jaffa cakes fo me and Junglesoup.

5.all Teams in the PL are banned from spending more than 3 quid a Season on new Players, except one Team of course...........

6.England signs a trade agreement with Belguim and everyone over 40 gets free Stella for life.

7. and not forgetting Lazyphil,he gets free chocolate chip cookies for life........

What a manifesto :D

Seriously, it would be a sure way to get elected. I think the sound of that free Stella sounds better than the jaffa cakes...

I would amend point one, that all citizens get a permanent residence visa, with condo allowance for Thailand...if you get your Thai girl pregnant...ahh, its great to dream.

the NHS to get a shake-up........ :rotl::rotl::rotl:

i've worked for the NHS for 28 Years and every election/by-election you hear the same old promises being thrown out.

and every time they here them the voters believe it...... :wanker:

Politicios and their like have no interest in the NHS and ordinary folk.

even if they have private health insurance they are quick to use the NHS when ill and then praise the Staff and try and make themselves look big by showing that they used the NHS instead of going private....... :cussing:

but they soon forget about the needy who need treatment and drugs but are denied by red tape...... :onfire:

Sj, as a serious question, do you think if there was an independent body to monitor. would it be better if the NHS was run privately?

We could get a tax cut to put into a medical insurance plan. At least if it was run by someone like Terry Leahy( the Tesco boss) then the money would be channeled into productive uses rather than squandered.

Brown is in a very safe position for now, the west lothian question is a problem with a left/socialist Scottish Assembly but it is widely expected that the Brown policy agenda will shift marginally to the left minimising some of the crazy policy decisons bewteen westminster and edinborough, also he needs the Trade Unions to bankroll election campaign. He's also facing the first nationally co-ordinated strikes across the whole of the public service sector including health, education, civil service and the utilities.

Its also clear he's wanting a withdrawal plan from Iraq and if he gets that made public in the near future and the trade unions off his back and willing to bankroll the new agenda an early election is quite possible by the end of the year or spring 08.
