junglesoup
He ll be with the US, but not with GWB. Britain will still be a US ally, but Brown supposedly will be cold on BUsh, but not US presidents in general...
Bkkbound04
But will he be "with GWB" or "Against" GWB? I don't believe it will be anything like the Bush/Blair relationship.I just think it'll be a cooling off period until Hilary is elected next year. I'd place a bet on Brown opposing the attack on Iran. But because of the islamic threat this could all change radically should the UK suffer any more direct atrocities from the Islamicists. Faustian
Brown isn't as useful for Bush...Blair could talk the talk, Brown can't...sure, he's well educated, supposedly intelligent, but he has a serious personality defect....he doesn't have one.... I imagine it will be business as usual...i can't see Brown standing upto to Bush, he'd be too scared. He needs to assert himself tho'...maybe not rolling over and playing dead to a lame duck president is the way? Still, it'll suck...Browns job is impossible...Blair made sure of that! BSTaucer
Gentlemen, Britain has and always will stand by the United states as a proud ally. We have always stood by them, and they alongside us when the chips were down, eventually anyway. Other then that little incident in the latter part of the 1700's, I would say we have always been like a family. Along that, I would think Brown will stand along with the United States as well. However, while I am not one to immediately condemn or ridicule another nation's leader, I do hope he will show a bit more back bone than his predecessor. I would also hope he gets a bit more on with the Muslim extremists here in Britain. This lot has long been acting up, and does need a reminder they are guests here. Welcome to stay as long as they play by the rules. Best Regards-BST

sayjann
JS. i work in a Hospital which is over 100 Years old and originally a Military Hospital. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Alexandra_Hospital was used during WW2 as a civilian Hospital as well due to the fact that Portsmouth had a massive Naval base and was bombed frequently. treated many of the wounded following D-Day,the enemy included. it eventually becace NHS but in the last 3-4 Years we have sort of gone private. we were sorta taken over by a Company who specialise in the PFI sector. this means that a sooper-dooper state of the art new Hospital is being built for around 700 Million Pounds(forget the price quoted in the link). this has involved knocking down much of the old Edwardian Hospital including strangely some Grade 1 listed buildings.........and i thought this was illegal. and many of the Departments which were only built 20 odd Years ago,and these are not being replaced. the Company have taken over all financial aspects of the Hospital except Nursing and Medical staff. the Hospital still gets it's funding from the Public purse but wages are paid for by the new Company. this means that EVERY job requested and completed is billed to the relevant Department. but the prices are outrageous as the Company need to claw back a lot of money. if a Ward request an emergency meal for a patient, even a sandwich they are charged 100 Pounds............... the job will be completed within 10 minutes,so that amount of money is obscene. they are bleeding the Hospital dry with their charges and Patients will miss out. already some procedures are postponed or delayed because the Ward or Department cannot afford to pay for it. there are pro's and con's for Private schemes but i for one have seen my place of Work go downhill in the fact that the service is failing. but i put a lot of the blame on the monopoly that drug companies have on the NHS. the Government has the power to force them to lower prices but will not. and look at the companies who supply electricity, gas, phonelines etc. i have always had the opinion that Hospitals should have some sort of reduced charges because they provide a service which is so important to every person in the UK.
