Osama invites you to embrace Islam

Iraq caught even the best politicians off balance. Even ordinary citizens like our selves were told that if we were against the invasion of Iraq we were against our troops fighting over there.

To me this was one of the sleaziest attacks ever made by the far right spin doctors.

Personal freedom is very important to Westerners. Islam means total submission to God. Even Christians don't go that far. Capitalism isn't perfect but it works.

Osama doesn't understand Western thinking. He would be much further ahead if he said...'you leave us alone with our beliefs and we'll leave you alone with yours.'

I still think that US Democracy is the best system in the world at present. I can think of nothing practiced anywhere else that beats it and the democracies that do have better this or better that tend to live under the protective wing of the US.

And what exactly does that have to do with how well a government functions. And besides, it is our choice toi be the world's policeman. Not everyone is fired up about it, but there is little they can do.

Anyway. I can think of several governments that function lightyears better than the US-style: Oz comes immediately to mind. But there are many democracies who simply do not suck corporate dick and actually do something for their citizens! The US is purely "of the corps, by the corps, for the corps" and will be until PAC money is outlawed and we put something in place like no politico can work for a government contractor five years before or after they hold office (for starters).

...As a result, almost 2000 American lives have been lost to date...

Agreed, but yer numbers are way off there mate. As of 6 Sept, there are 3760 officially dead US military.

But wait, there's more!

The US Government will not release figures on the casualties of military contractors (read that: mercenaries) we employ. Best guess would be 1000+...

And we will not even talk about how deeply tied into the Bush regime Blackwater is (everyone already knows about Halliburton and its subsidiaries ties to Cheney et al), cuz that would be off topic.

compare the video with these images of bin laden:

doesn't it look like the osama in the video is missing the tip of his nose?

I'd like to hear your definition of what "best democracy" is.

It is pretty easy to have 100% literacy when you do not have to pay for your defense.

so you call illegally occupying another country defense. and imposing "democracy" in iraq should be more prioritized than teaching your kids how to read? but then again you don't need to be literate to handle an M16.

Sure there is a lot that is not great about US Democracy, and there are some things that are down right yucky. But I hold by my opinion. I can't answer what is best because that is a very subjective question. You would have to know what each of you would site as an example of "what makes something the best." An I bet none of us can agree to that.

Is it money? Or power? Or is it national pride or the crime rate? So much could go into "What is best" that the word itself looses meaning from one person to another. And why many can never agree to "what is best" even among a football league.

I also agree that if the US did not spend trillions policing the world, the US would be better off. But if you include the amount of foreign aid the US gives out as a total, would that be a good thing to stop as well? That is a question for better minds than I. (And I was surprised to see that LOS gets about $42,000,000 a year of it. $12m in refugee aid.)
