shygye
One reason German makes in particular can be cheaper in the US/Canada compared to Europe is because for some unknown reason, the manufacturers dumb down their cars for the US market. BMW has a history of doing things like removing speed sensitive power steering assist, removing full floating brake rotors for the old fashioned type, no full featured steptronic transmissions, no comfort close windows, no dual glazed windows, no double vanos, no rear fog lights, smaller amounts of leather used, and so forth. Many of those types of things just can not be had in the US at any price and at the end of the day that kind of car is not a real BMW anymore in my opinion. In Europe on the other hand many such features are standard on the cheapest model. I believe Thailand gets the genuine car that is not dumbed down like the US/Canada however so comparing prices relative to Europe for German makes would be more appropriate. See, I got this thread back on track. But still, half a million bucks for a 750 in Thailand, geez... I just don't see the differences. I compared the 750Li in the USA and UK. Same engine, engine controls, transmission, brakes, etc are on both. USA 750Li UK 750Li
PP
Actually, I would love to have a go in that Ariel Atom after seeing them test drive it on Top Gear - 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, here is the clip, just look at his face.. Perfect for the Dubai climate?

In Canada my Jaguar XJR is 100,000 in US 85,000 in Thailand 350,000 how much room is there for negotiation when purchasing a new car in Thailand. Whats the cost in London for the XJR ? Just check JD Powers and find out. Hyundai beats Mercedes and BMW now in USA for initial quality. Never mind the headlight lens (one) the costs US $3,200.00 (each to be redundant)! Ya, I need speed sensitive leather seats that vibrate when the lights turn on while traveling into/thru a tunnel only on Sundays. Ya, I need that much!
