iuytrede
yes, possible Chula, Sirirat and Ramathibodi are the best hospitals in Thailand The best private hospitals like Bumrungrad or Bangkok Hospital use doctors and even equipment for some specialized procedures from these places. The second and third tier private hospitals like Sukhumvit Hospital or Central General Hospital will send patients there for specialized treatment. They are the best option if you are prepared to go through the bureaucracy. Very difficult if you cannot speak Thai. Reckon with 8 hours waiting (this is, if you show up at 6:30 a.m., otherwise you can just stay at home). You may be screened by a GP again and again before seeing a specialist. Before being admitted as an inpatient you may be required to bring a relative with you (TGF suffices) who stays with you in the hospital. If you use their ER after hours things are quite speedy but you may be screened by students. You get the best treatment that you can find in Thailand, at a fraction of the cost of the private hospitals, but you pay with your time. And you can be sure that they will not use you as an ATM like the private hospitals tend to do: if treatment is not indicated they will not do it anyway just to make money. They do have private wards which are still relatively cheap, but where things move faster.

iuytrede
what is written in this link is over-optimistic Thai Hospitals are by far not as good as Western Hospitals As a general rule: The best Thai Hospitals are as good as a medium-sized hospital in countries like France, Germany or the US (not the UK or Japan)

New Petchburi Pete
Bangkok Hospital is a fine institution. I've met several highly qualified physicians there. No, it's not as cheap as many government hospitals; but, you get what you pay for. Now, as to their satellite hospital, Bangkok Hospital - Pattaya, well, that's a whole different story! ... better off going up to Si Racha for PhyThai or Samitivej. The Heart Center at Bangkok Hospital (BKK) is now considered to be the best in Thailand.
iuytrede
Anything heart-related I recommend Bumrungrad. Most definitely not Bangkok Hospital.
cavanami
After the boy (extended family) came down with dengue fever, we took him to BCH (Bangkok Christian Hospital) when they kept him for 5 days. The care at BCH was excellent! It was a 4-bed room but mostly he was the only one in there. Total cost for the 5 days, including the doctor's fees and the bag of pills they give you on checkout: 11,000 Baht. In the USA, say change that from Baht to US Dollars...or more!!!
