I got a feeling it is going to get orse before it will ever get better.

Homeland Security put up a tower with cameras on it in Arrivaca, Arizona. When they proposed to put up the tower, some people complained "why put up a tower so far from the border?" To ease tensions, Homeland Security reported that the tower was a failure. They spent more money trying to fix problems but only to report it was throwing more money down the drain. About 2 weeks ago, they announced they are putting up over 50 more towers. One in Tucson and some as far North as Phoenix.

When the ReadID is implemented, and with towers with cameras that can see into your bedroom, we should 'feel really safe'?

If you remember, the government wanted to check all people boarding airplanes, busses and trains. With new technology, people will be checked all of the time and that includes their notebooks.

In regards to notebooks, if border patrol stops you in Phoenix, and you have a notebook, will they be able to check it?

I have posted before about how these fuck wits checked all my cameras, all the media cards, my portable hard drive, my cell phone, note books (the hand written kind) ask "who is this person?" in photos, or letters, or notes etc...delayed over 1.5 hours at times, all the while, Arabic looking types are passing through with no problem. The only people stopped were single white males traveling alone. Really pisses me off. Especially as we are no safer...but hey, hasn't been another terrorist attack yet, so it must be working right? What ever happened to all those "Alquada Sleeper cells" that were in the country? or the Russian ones?

The last 2 times I exited Swampy, I had a duty free bag, and they did stop me and made a 1/2 assed show of checking that I was within limits. They did ask if I had a laptop as well.

The ONLY time I was ever even asked anything at Don Mung was when I had a duty free bag and a cardboard box.

...and single black males as well. Takes me 2-3 hours just get out of LAX to my house. If you're an american male, black or white, coming back from certain countries, they are going to scrutinize the hell out of you. Coming back from Thailand (as well as other countries like Brazil for example), sends off warning signals to the government.

The fact of the matter is we are already in an Orwellian state but half of us don't know it and the other half don't care.

The last census they asked very detailed questions that went far beyond any previous census and you had to answer or break the law. The consititution says a census has to be taken ever 10 years but left it vague as to what it would entail.

The argument was that the government needed the information to better serve the people with the myriad of programs but the real truth is information gathering on its own citizens. Its Kafka-esque.

We're already down that slippery slope and the powers that be know once you take something away it stays taken. There will always be some crisis that they can use to justify the deterioation of civil liberties.

The whole thing stinks and we are no longer a nation that has any personal freedoms. Okay, I sound like some state militia nut case from Idaho but I truly believe this.

What is that old saying about losing a little freedom for safety and deserving neither?

This is exactly what Governments want. Total control over the masses. If they could, they would bio-chip us all. The best thing that could of happened for Government in the last 10 years was the twin towers horror. It scared people into allowing these covert organisation to gain more and more control over our daily lives, whether it be CCTV, insane and over the top anti-terrorist laws, the right of arrest without charge...well the list is pretty endless.

Not that I have anything to hide on my PC (other than some porn, badly written stories and err more porn and I dont think thats illegal....YET), but jsut for the right to privacy, I might take a electromagnet with me to wipe the harddisk....not sure if it actually works but seen it done on film. :)

Big Brother is watching you, but who is watching big brother!!!

Which is why many think the government was in on it.
