The world is crazy I admit it...

The other the day the American IT director was celebrating his birthday at the office.

He asked me if I knew a place where to get some "foie gras" here in this damn forsaken city...

I happen to know one place but I answered it was damn expensive for what he wanted to do -> a small party for 40 people with foie gras and white wine.

-> I bought some decent foie gras (not overpriced for the quality) from this French luxury shop and I brought some sauternes bottles...

I did not touch the foie gras and just took a sip from the wine because the bill he paid made me sick -> x000 euros while the company just fired 800 people all over Europe and a few thousands in the USA...

Talk about a damn shitty world

He said, "My father always told me look at those who have less than you, not more. Look down, not up." Smart man.

that's one of the worst advises you can give to a young ambitious man! it will screw up his career!

for a old not well off man it might be ok to keep him mentally sane!

I noticed the OP repeatedly mentioned the shit hole village as HIS VILLAGE

So what's the world coming too - back in the west we can't get (cheap) authentic Thai food & in LOS it seems some folks out in the sticks struggle to pick up some decent foie gras, bacon et all?

30k villa bills? Usually not above 2k actually, but that might be because it's pretty tough to find anything decent there LOL - didn't see many (fat) farangs shop there though, but then again I'm not shopping at Suk :)

Not only that he is contributing to a decadent socialistic society. Shame on him.

Oooo, no! You can't say anything!!!! That would be elitist. He is a man of the people. I am a scumbag who doesn't understand the plight of the village people because I am employed and live in the big, bad city.

At least that's the story Tartempion told me...

Cheers,

SD

Tartempion,

There are other words to sum up all this : Thailand is a thirld world shithole... went back recently to some areas in France which I used to consider utter dumps when I was leaving in Paris... well, now today that I've sent the family back to BKK, they comparatively look attractive... I hope I can sort out my biz and move back west in a couple of years...

Now, why you ever considered moving to Thailand upcountry is a mystery...
