Gooner Corner

With no less than 9 players out due to injury, Arsenal appear to be playing as well as they have during this campaign. The 2-0 win over the Magpies was impressive, though they will have to do it again next week in the FA Cup. Sol, in particulat, has been the glue that has held the back 4 together.

And as to Man U/Derby - Barthez spilled the ball to Christie - it was a goal, no question about it. I hope that 1 point does not turn out to haunt the Gunners.

Cheers,

barthez had both hands on the ball,ok maybe not in total control, but christie did kick the ball out of the goalies hands.

no excuses, united should have stuffed derby, but good goalkeeping and bad finishing let utd down(plus the woodwork 3 times).

let's hope we do win it by 1 point and then we can look forward to arsene winger moaning that utd only won it because a ref lost his bottle at the derby match.

With the many Shebby Singh (ex-Malaysia ESPN football guru) fans here, I’m almost tempted to start a new thread devoted to my top man.

A few years ago, after watching Fantasy Football League, I asked a mate, “Who is Jeff Astle?” My mate, who is one year older and a Forest fan, answered my question and then mocked my non-existent football knowledge.

Now, even football retards know who Shebby Singh is along with lesser players like Gerry Armstrong, Robbo and Fatboy Brazil. Mock me if you like but who the hell is Jamie Reeves? Who are these nobodies on ESPN? I’ve been on TV before (in a crowd at Spurs). Can I have a go on ESPN? I own a very nice tie, two in fact.

First saw the Mighty Shebby Singh over Christmas trying to explain the offside rule for the benefit of a viewer's email. I nearly choked on me kloster.

As all the others in the studio were pissing themselves as well it was probably a wind up.

As for Jamie Reeves, who he failed with in England I have no idea, Norwich rings a bell.

I think he played for someone in Hong Kong for a few years before moving on to the dizzy heights of an "expert" on ESPN.

Well done Gooners! It won’t last because tonight Man United have…….Oh, it will last then.

Even by my standards this post is scraping the barrel but I’m bored at work. I dug out some lookalikes of past and present gooners – not bad.

Tony Adams http://www.football365.com/Fun_Games/Lookalike/story_14995.shtml

Seaman http://www.football365.com/Fun_Games/Lookalike/story_1084.shtml

Don Howe http://www.football365.com/Fun_Games/Lookalike/story_1080.shtml

David O’leary http://www.football365.com/Fun_Games/Lookalike/story_18795.shtml

and OK, a Spurs piss take too (not at all funny):

the english papers were waxing lyrical about arsenal today, wonderful performance against derby.

much better then utd who could'nt beat them.

utd deserved to beat derby and arsenal were at home and expected to win.

utd against spurs were awesome, even though the 2nd goal was never a penalty and sending off.

but 3 out of 4 goals were fantastic.

i don't know if the gooners are 'happy' for utd to beat the spurs and let arsenal stay up up the table.

on another thread this is my 100th post on this forum and i am so happy.

i'm glad i beat my friend to the milestone.

9 more matches - 9 more wins (or 8 and a draw against Man U). The Gunners have their destiny in their own hands....at last....

Just hope this does not come down to goal differential, as we all know who will win there.

Is the above scenario unilkely? Maybe. Possible. Yes. This group of players, despite being decimated by injuries, is playing artful, fluid football, and with a true passion.

Repeating myself, I know...Pires for player of the year. He also means so much more to the Gunners than does Van Nis to Man U.

I think (and pray!!) the Gunners will pull it out. A wonderful gift for my first full year of being a gooner. Its going to be close. I'm not only fearful of Man Utd obviously but you never know about Liverpool.

Who is the best manager? Arsene? I'm sure Leeds will have something to say about that as they've done a better than expected job this year.
