Lusty
I can only go by what I've seen on my visit's and what I hear from Mrs Lusty. Why are a large proportion of the Thai male populace so bloody bone idle and lazy and think the world owes them a living?
radioman
Imagine busting your guts out for some business or other and after a solid 50+ hour work week you pick up enough to just scrape through the next whilst the boss arrives everyday in his shiny new Merc at a time that suits him, leaves when it suits him and from one year to the next does little but spit at your feet. Then realise that due to a totally fucked up patronage and belief system that you have no chance to escape that. Would probably make me lazy. That said a good number of the guys in my extended family are real hard workers but most of them make for themselves. They'll never be rich, well one is doing nice employing about 50 people but all are happy. Overall the lack of real education and opportunities I think is what stifles most of them into a subservient morass, much to the delight of the moneyed and powerful few. Why are the women less lazy in part, they have T&A and for a few short years at least that means opportunity, use it or lose it. Thais might be lazy but in large part they are not (that) stupid. khunsanuk
Hi, Maybe you should come to my wife's village. My brother-in-law stars work at around 7am and works until dark (6-7pm). He has calluses on his calluses. My father-in-law seems to spend a lot of time working as well, gathering vegetables, hunting, fishing, fixing stuff around the house, etc. Sanuk! khunsanuk
Hi, No, not a single Chinese-Thai in the family. All poor rice farmers. Sanuk!
Central Scrutinizer
95% of all Thai men I know and have met work full time jobs or are running their own business full time (or are retired). All work many hours; some have farms and work when they need on the farm, then get part time or temp jobs during the off seasons. 5% or less are mangda, leeches, full out drunks and scumbags. CTO
I'm with KS etc/ With the engineering people we work with none finish before 6pm. They work hard - so Rive Farmers work hard - Well paid engineers work hard Both party pretty well given a chance. Ny thinking is if I judged Australian men by the men in Kings Cross Red Light district I'd have a different opinion than I do/
radioman
Same on my side. No Chinese-Thai, all 100% pure bred Thai. Mention they might be anything other and they get 'that' look! One time up country in Issan somewhere out Mukdahan way with a girl I was seeing on and off she hosted me in her village. I was travelling with a couple of guys and three of us stopped over a weekend. She came up from Bangkok to run the show and we spent the entire weekend getting drunk, partying and having fun, that was the whole idea and naturally the three of us funded the whole show pretty much. No problem it was a cheap weekend off for us. Plus of course as three single farang guys there were no shortage of 'partners' for my buddies. I was well sorted with my friend. Her parents were long departed and she had divorced some years back, ex was long gone to Chiang Mai. We were all impressed by how busy everyone looked but as she told me one night they were only doing it for her and us. Come the day we left they would be all asleep under the trees, still shit faced and going nowhere fast.
spirit_of_town_hall
You shouldnt generalise Lusty, ethnic Thais are very lazy, but Thai chinese are very hard working and industrious. STH
Mekong
Observations such as "All Thai Men are Lazy" and "All Thai Women are Whores" is not a refelction on Thai society as such, but a sad reflection on the levels of society that the people who have these concepts socialise with. CTO's Kings X analogy sums it up!
