As another famous Australian once said, before they hung him "Such is life'.

Someone's looks or demeanor, since time begun has always favoured others in all facets of life - even fair trials. However, the judicature, wise to such frailities in the ways of human nature and in an attempt to remedy this legal defect, they invented the 'right to silence'.

Unfortunately, this agenda or non-agenda driven individual spoke up. Incessantly some may say.

Maybe, in Thailand, as I have often seen on news footage, of them marching them to the scene of the crime, reliving those moments of madness, there may be no right to silence however, Harry kept bleating to all that would listen.

Another adage, as one enters the Kingdom of smiles, apart from, 'respect the monarchy' is, to keep your calmness - as Thai's (an other parts of Asia) see ranting and raving as a sign of poor breeding (right or wrong). So Harry, was doing everything wrong, and continued to dig a deeper grave to lay in.

Then, to save face, the Thai's had no alternative but to enforce some length of imprisonment. Which, has in turn, made all of us a little wiser as to not what to do.

So, each case turns on its own set of facts. As we were not present at the trial, and there is a lack of full reporting on the case, save and except the sentence handed out, we may also never know how much evidence they had against him.

However, someone's looks and attitude will always influence those around you. It is why a good looking bloke, will get a smile back from a girl, if he glances a stare from the corner of his eyes towards her, but a not so good looking bloke or an aesthetically challenged individual will get the "snarled up, egoistical' how dare you look - one of the main reasons why us menfolk run from the west and flock to the Kingdom of smiles.

Part of it is his name. Sounds like somebody out of fiction, plus he acts like a fictional character. He reminds me of Fitzgerald's Pat Hobby stories.

Part of it may be his father's name, Sokrates.

Discussing the irrelevant issue of Harry-san's person deflects the emphasis in the wrong direction. That is why the REAL issue of principle should be discussed exactly in this thread and not in a separate one, namely to put the whole thing back into the right perspective.

And this is exactly why it is so important that the judicial system should be above such influences.

No offence, unless you hop on the good ship lollipop, and travel along the yellow brick road through the land of Oz, make sure you take a right at Albuquerque or was that a left, then straight onto Utopia - it isn't going to happen â?? this fairness and equality that you seek grass-hoper. Human nature and emotion is, what it is.

But it's so boring. Stupid law, right. HM even thinks so, right. Draconian sentence, yeah, yeah. Bad for Thailand's image, yawn. Maybe somebody needs to come up with a new angle on it.
