More Obama Bullsh$t

Typical attack conservatives if there is a problem with the Obama administration attitude.

Nothing new here, move along.

Puh-leese Weird. Ever since Rush Limbaugh argued that he hopes President Obama fails in office, there's been some interesting back and forth on whether conservatives should actively and publicly hope for the nation's decline.

It seems to have divided even the most radical of far-right Republicans. On the one hand, we have very conservative leaders like South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford ® and TV preacher Pat Robertson who reject such talk outright (whoulda thunk I'd ever agree with Crazy Pat R???).

On the other, we have a small handful of figures willing to endorse the sentiment. Yesterday, it was former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), who, when asked if he agreed with Limbaugh's remarks hoping for presidential failure, said, "Well, exactly right."

Today, I read the transcript of a ThinkProgress chat with former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) and radio host Mark Levin, who joined the caucus.

[color:purple] TP: What do you think about what Rush said about, I mean, do you hope, should we hope that President Obama fails?

LEVIN: Yes.

TP: Yes?

SANTORUM: If ... absolutely we hope that his policies fail.... I believe his policies will fail, I don't know, but I hope they fail.[/color]

It's possible that my memory is off, but I can't recall ever hearing so many prominent political figures hoping for American leaders' failure like this, especially not in the midst of a crisis.

That it's coming from ideologues who believe they have the edge on "patriotism" -- and insist that Bush's liberal critics were guilty of "treason" -- just makes this all the more bizarre.

For instance, famously uber-conservative actor John Wayne was asked for his thoughts after JFK defeated Richard Nixon in 1960. "I didn't vote for him," Wayne said, "but he's my president, and I hope he does a good job."

It's the kind of sentiment that seemed obvious for any American up until about, say, a month ago. And yes, while I very much criticized Bush's policies and wanted him to make adjustments, I (and no one I know nor read about) EVER said we wanted he and the country to fail! But obviously what amounts to treason IOKIFYAR.

Cheers,

SD

I want to see Prez. O make a change! He ran on the platform of change...OK, let's get moving!!!

A few changes needed:

1. Stop all benefits to illegals.

2. Stop the automatic citizenship to illegals.

3. Kick the illegals out.

Use all the money that is now spent on illegals on US citizens!

Who said they wished the nation would fail? They want Obama to fail with his socialistic policies.

If you actually watched Limbaugh's speech you'd realize that.

If Obama fails it means that the government fails. If the government fails in the time of the deepest crisis since many, many decades, the USA will fail. Which American can wish this?

:shifty:

IMHO it is quite exceptional what the current GOP is wishing for.

I would have thought that *all* Americans would stand together during a time of an extremely severe crisis. But it seems that the GOP is following the same pattern of denial and loud mouthing like they did during Katrina...

Watch Limbaugh? He's on the radio. I've read the transcript. Perhaps it is you who needs to go back to it. The quote is "he's my president..."I hope he fails." Not much ambiguity there. It is not that he wants certain policies to fail. He acknowledges that he is the President and wishes him failure. That means by logical extension Rush wants the US to fail. And those GOP leaders who agree are agreeing to the same thing. It is very clear to anyone who speaks English as a first language...and likely second or third too.

Oh, right. GOPers are too stupid to say what they mean, so they need their sheep to cover their asses by saying "what he really meant was..." Ya, right. They know exactly what they are saying.

That's pathetic, Weird. Seriously.

Rush Limbaugh was 15 minutes early to the stage' date=' but no one was complaining Saturday evening in Washington, D.C., at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Quite the contrary. On the conference's third and final day, the conservative talk radio host was the headliner, and the crowd greeted him with an immense ovation.

"Ladies and gentleman, this is my first ever address to the nation," Limbaugh joked, noting that FOX News and C-SPAN were broadcasting the speech live.

"This notion that I want the president to fail, this shows you the problem we've got. This is nothing more than common sense and to not be able to say it?
