Obama cracks the code to reach Islam

Ah Flash, you know better than that. Iraq invaded Iran, not the other way around. I expected the kid to miss it, but not you.

Aha! Exactly the response I expected.

You did not set any conditions. You asked what country has Iran invaded in the last 200 years ... and the correct answer is Iraq. Doesn't matter that Iraq invaded them first. Iran pushed the invaders back - and then invaded Iraq!

<< On 13 July [1982], the Iranian units crossed the border in force, aiming towards the city of Basra, the second most important city in Iraq. >>

Look at the map. See the areas in green?

I guess I consider an invasion to be an offensive tactic, not a defensive one. That is, the instigator is the invader.

The obvious point is that Iran does not have a history of being the instigator.

i know i sound like a broken record but why is land theft any different from israelis in palastine to euro losers in north and south america, is it practical for native americans to say, look, its time to pack your bags and fuck off home you dont belong here you greedy murdering scum :susel: .....goes for south africa too, although whites didn't over run the place enough like the americas thus white minority rule was deemed vile. had enough whites gone to south afica would white majority rule be less toxic and vile, say like in america?.........oh, i know native americans have the casinos but really, their way of life was fucked up long ago. whats good for the goose is good for the gander. americans should not be peace brokers in the ME :content: :grinyes::cover::stirthepo

I hate to stereo type here and be a "self hater" but exactly why do we kiss Israel's ass all the time? are we really that stupid to think they are always 100% right on everything? We need oil, what can Israel give us that is of equal or greater importance? They have gotten away with a lot of shit, and they have done so largely because of U.S.A. support. Anyone see a problem with this?

I think it started with feelings of sympathy and guilt from WW 2. Truman took an active part.

Today though a lot of the way we support Israel is due to domestic politics. Florida has become a crucial state to become president and there are many Jewish residents of that state. Also, AIPAC and other jewish organizations are seen as vital to any national candidate. Not surprisingly enough, many Jewish Americans side with Israel's policies and the state more than a neutral would. Understandable. Same can be said of Cuban Americans in opposition to Castro as well as Irish Americans with regards to the IRA and northern Ireland.

Obama spoke at AIPAC. If one heard his speech he sounded as if he was Sharon himself.

Its just how it is. Our policy with regards to Israel is shaped by the fear of lost votes domestically. Its a little simplistic but largely true.

This is 10 years old but I can't see it being too different than today:

AIPAC is so well-known inside the Beltway that when anyone refers to "The Lobby," no one asks, "Which one?"

The AARP (lobby for the elderly) was named in a survey of 329 washington insiders as the most powerful lobby, the runner up as AIPAC the jewish lobby

A look at the runner-up organizations and the constituencies they represent, however, puts into perspective the incredible power of AIPAC

As an aside, these are the list of most powerful lobbies in Washington numerically

1. AARP

2. AIPAC

3. AFL-CIO

4. National Federation of Independent Business(this ranking suprised me frankly)

5. Association of Trial Lawyers

6. National Rifle Association

7. Christian Coalition

8. American Medical Association

9. National Education Association

I think we should support Israel. I just think we need to show some tough love. Its a bit hypocritical to criticize moslem heads of states about reiging in groups and we don't do the same with Israel at times or most times.

If I recall the elder Bush either threatened to or did hold back monetary aid but paid a significant price domestically with the jewish groups.

Ironcially, the mentality of some of these groups is the same as Bush's '...you're either with us or against us...' statement.

That said, for a myriad of reasons we need to support the one true democracy in the region. Others have elections but Israel comes closest to a working democracy than any other.

It may turn out that Obama might be a true world leader. I am sick of the hate mongers.

Funny you should say that. You were probably the biggest hatemonger on this board when it came to Geroge Bush.

I guess you were a GWB fan but then you appear to be only a desktop warrior. When you get tested with a few real life experiences you might think differently.

I was a desk top warrior when I made it back to the "office" and laid my rifle on the desk. Does that count?
